Add Us to Your Whitelist!

As the creators of a game for children, we are dedicated to keeping our players safe online, so we understand the need for ad blockers that prevent annoying or potentially unsuitable advertising from popping up as you play.

Did you know that there is a way to allow Webkinz ads to show up that still blocks ads from other sites?

The advantage to allowing Webkinz ads to show up is that there are features and events in Webkinz World that are delivered through our ad system, including:

  • Find the ads
  • Visiting characters in the Park
  • Watch and Wins
  • And more!

Webkinz relies on advertising revenue to help us deliver the best possible product to our players. And because Webkinz complies with COPPA, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the ads that we do show follow guidelines laid out by the government that restrict the types of marketing that can be displayed to children under 13. Want to know more about COPPA? You can read about it here.

To make sure that you’re getting the best Webkinz experience, you can ask your parents to add Webkinz to your ad blocker’s ‘whitelist’. A ‘whitelist’ allows ads from websites that YOU choose, while blocking ads from everywhere else.

Each ad blocker works a little differently. One of the most popular, Adblock Plus, makes it pretty simple to whitelist a site. Just go to webkinz.com, then right-click the large, red ABP stop sign icon in the top right corner. Scroll down to ‘Disable on webkinz.com’ and you’re done! Some other ad blockers will require you to go into their Preferences, select ‘Whitelist’ and paste webkinz.com into the list.

Of course, you need to get your parents’ permission before making any changes to the ad blocker on your computer. Be sure to talk to them about adding us to your whitelist so you never miss another event in Webkinz World!

If you are able to get rid of the malicious ads that pop up and redirect me to unsafe sites, I will whitelist Webkinz. Other than that, my adblocker will stay up. It’s getting out of hand!!

I won’t give up my AdBlocker — even for a prize. Don’t like White list at all…

All I need is something else to slow my webkinz account down ….I say no thank you.

Idea: add section in the parents’ section that says: Block Non-Webkinz ads. I don’t like ads much myself.

I do not like the idea we have to disable ad blocker to Find the ads and
Visit characters in the Park, on my accounts (5 that are not deluxe) I keep getting ad for NYC video, seems outside ads are still getting thru. My deluxe accounts do not get this ad. It’s bad enough it cost a small fortune to have deluxe. I can not add 5 more. Webkinz was so much better before deluxe came into play and took stuff away and made it for deluxe only when it was for everyone. After all these years my feelings have not change that deluxe should not have taken anything away from things that were for everyone. They should have just added stuff for deluxe member without taken stuff away. My hopes is that they will give back all the stuff that was available for everyone before deluxe came in to play.

I agree with sidneyjoy: ads in general cause my browser performance to go way down. Often, ads cause my browser to hang (and sometimes they lag up my entire computer). After I started using adblock, I realized how much better Webkinz could be. I’m practically paralyzed in rooms and the parks. I understand that ads often help fund a website, but I feel like in the past few years, Webkinz has been declining in an extremely distasteful way. Though I love Webkinz, I don’t love everything about it. I remember when I started playing, almost 10 years ago. When Deluxe membership became a thing, I was saddened. I felt that my dedication was in vain, and that Ganz wanted money that I didn’t have. It got worse when functions I used to have became unavailable, since I refuse to pay for Deluxe. Though I still maintain my account with normal membership through the occasional plush purchase, I have found it more and more difficult over the past 2 years to find plush being sold in physical stores. I often resort to buying the ones I like on Amazon. As a huge security advocate, I am unwilling to own or use a credit card, so I can not purchase from the eStore. Some may suggest I use prepaid credit cards, but the activation fees can get pricey over time (my aversion to credit cards comes from my fear of being unable to efficiently monitor balances, in order to prevent fraud or undesired automatic charges). The release of Webkinz X was good in concept, however, it was released unfinished, and extremely buggy. Some bugs still have not been properly addressed, for example, there are some display issues with the status meters and hearts. Now, a lot of these issues are easy to fix… except Ganz is likely unwilling to take the plunge back to the past because of income uncertainty. Though I can’t speak for everyone, I would be more inclined to invest more into Webkinz if Deluxe and eStore Points were removed, along with higher responsiveness to player concerns, including the negative performance effects of embedded ads, the density of bugs, and the current online exclusivity of plush purchases. I’ve likely bit off more than I can chew with all these viewpoints and observations coming out at once, but with the fleeting possibility of my experience being read, acknowledged, and acted upon in a positive way in mind, I can only hope this post results in changes not only in my favor, but in favor of the entire Webkinz community, past, present, and future.

I agree with you 100%! It is sad that even the Arcade has a Deluxe Section, as does Curio SHop – the Rare Items mostly appear in the Deluxe Section. So many items you cannot buy because they are Deluxe or E-Store. And why is Vacation Island a Deluxe only – there isn’t that much there!

      • ILoveWebkinz12345678910 says:

I agree also. You can’t have special items that only certain people can have and others can’t. Like you said Vacation Island, Curio Shop, Arcade, Clothing at the Kinzstyle Outlet and even the Kinzstyle shop! I think that it’s not fair because their making you buy something with your own money or you can’t have it at all! Also, if you have a free account, they won’t let you get certain items unless you pay more money! I still love Webkinz, but it’s changed…. A LOT!

And, this has nothing to do with ads, but I don’t like that they have these things that your pet asks you something and you have to do it or they lose their happiness?? To me thats pretty dumb and I don’t like that idea

          • sef62 says:

I agree with that. A game should be voluntary and never forced. Don’t like to look at unhappy pets.

      • heggem5 says:

I agree I can not get all of the better stuff because I do not want to pay every month just to get coins that will bye me something the others don’t have. I also don’t even have a plush pet so I can not get anything the costs emoney.

      • OfficialSassy says:

Very well put! I agree with most of what’s said on this thread. I’m not a pro-AdBlock person, I understand that’s how free sites stay free and support that, however I installed AdBlock for Webkinz World and Webkinz World alone. The ads were highly distracting while playing games not to mention it lagged my computer and I use a gaming PC. I understand they still have to make money, so Deluxe Membership makes sense. I didn’t really mind Deluxe Membership at all, I don’t care if they make games for Deluxe members, but when they took away items and games that everyone was able to play and hid them under Deluxe, that’s when I stopped loving the online. Not to mention fusing the W-Shop and E-Shop together was a terrible idea. I understand that this is an extra source of income for Ganz, but twisting peoples hands is not the right way to go about making more money. Waving something under my nose like “you want it, you have to pay” doesn’t make me want to buy it, it just annoys me. If I’m going to put money into anything, I want it to be physical or something I’ll enjoy (like a game off Steam for example), not a virtual sofa.

MICHAEL WEBKINZ HELP !! I have Chrome getting all ads . I have no “RED BOX” top right or left. I only want webkinz ads. These others slow my game and I can’t play . How do I fix this ?

    • barones33 says:

i have the same problem, too!!!! do i have to buy a special program to block the other ads, like tinygma i only want webkinz ads, i really want to use an ad block but do not know how PLEASE help MICHAEL WEBKINZ

  9. sidneyjoy says:

I refuse to add Webkinz to my whitelist. I understand you need ads to pay for the website, but just today, my antivirus had to warn me three times because Webkinz automatically directed me to an unsafe site. The ads slow Webkinz way down, especially the videos. And some of these ads weren’t really kid-oriented. Any time I have to get something from the park, I turn off my ad blocker, go directly to the park to get the item, log out, turn my ad blocker back on, and log in again. I will consider adding Webkinz to my whitelist once all the issues are sorted out.

I’d have to agree with Catchatiger. especially with the Lucky Charms add that still keeps popping up and I can’t get rid of it. I’ve also been a deluxe member for several of years and have to deal with things of this nature…
