So the baby’s total rarity is determined by how rare its traits are. The baby inherits 1 trait from on pet and 2 from the other. The remaining traits are randomly determined, with some influence from the two pets used to spark it. So the higher the starting rarity of the pets used to spark, the bigger the “bonus” to the random trait score, resulting in pets more likely to have higher rarity traits. Generation on its own doesn’t make much difference, but if your pet was lucky and rolled higher traits, it’s much more likely to spark rarer babies.
