You tried it at the park right? It isn’t one of those you can do here. It worked for me on both of my accounts. Give it another try!

It’s funny because with the twisted design it resembles licorice to me – pieces of chocolate and caramel licorice. We are used to salt water taffy from the Jersey shore and it looks different. Is this what taffy looks like everywhere else?

I totally agree! I was expecting a salt water taffy parchment wrapped candy. Also, the look of the treat from the candy tree decides for me if I want to buy it or not. This one is a no for me. Pretty candies please!

This is pretty close to what homemade molasses taffy looks like. The molasses gives it the brown color and distinct flavor. Salt Water Taffy uses corn syrup which is clear and doesn’t have a flavor of its own so you can flavor it and color it anyway you wish. :-)

I’ve never had homemade molasses taffy but that sounds wonderful!

Thank you for the lesson, @Alphaowlbear! I will have to encourage my family to look into that. There’s an old-fashioned candy shop where we used to buy molasses paddle taffys (a molasses lollipop on a stick, coated in dark chocolate – chewy and delicious!) but sadly, they stopped making them. Maybe we were the only family that bought them. :,-(
