What you do:

For the Pot:

1. Trace the opening of the cup onto brown construction paper.
2. Cut out the circle and cut a slit in the center.
3. Put rumpled paper towel in the cup for support (or you can use dirt instead, if you prefer).
4. If not using dirt, cover the top of the paper towel with brown construction paper.

For the Plant:

1. Using green construction paper, draw the following shapes:
   • 2 hands with 3 leaves each
   • 1 skirt with at least 6 leaves
   • 2 elbow leaves
   • 1 neck leaf
2. Cut out leaf shapes.
3. Twist these pipe cleaners together to form the body:
   • 2 for the main stem
   • 2 for each arm (4 total), plus 1 for shoulders/upper arms
   • 2 for the head, twisted into oval
4. Tape or glue the leaves to the body.
5. Slide the plant stem through the slit in the soil and stand the plant up in the cup.

What you do:

1. Print your favorite picture of a monarch butterfly from the internet on the cardstock paper. Make sure the size is almost as big as the 8 ½ x 11 piece of cardstock.
2. Cut out your butterfly and trace the butterfly’s outline onto the shoebox lid.
3. Cover all sides of the shoebox lid and the area around the tracing of the butterfly with moss.
4. Glue your butterfly’s body to the shoe box.

Your pet will wake every morning feeling more beautiful with this bed!

What’s a fun way to get ready for Thanksgiving? Mini cornucopias! This recipe from our archive makes a tasty treat!

What you do:

1. Fill each funnel shaped crispy corn with peanut butter with spoon.
2. Next dip the peanut butter side into the flavored cereal.
3. Place neatly on plate.

What you need:

• A box with a flip-open lid (see picture)
• Poster paint (others paints will do)
• Markers
• White printer paper
• Foam or thick cardboard
• Scissors
• Glue

What you do:

1. Paint the box with a fun pattern.
2. Let the box dry overnight.
3. Write “Webkinz” on the lid.
4. Measure a white piece of paper to fit the inside of the lid (trim if necessary).
5. Write “Webkinz Information” at the top of the paper. Below that, write your user name, password, secret code, and pet name(s).
6. Glue the paper to the inside of the lid.
7. Make two dividers from the foam or cardboard and fit them snugly in the box. If necessary, trim the foam or cardboard so the lid closes properly.
8. Put in all your cool Webkinz items like Trading Cards, Secret Codes, Webkinz Clothes, Lip Gloss, Body Spritz, Charms, and much more!

This is a great way to keep your Webkinz items neat and tidy!

Roberta here! I am getting ready for Reid’s first New Year’s! Babies love anything that makes noise, so to celebrate the day, I made these super-easy noisemakers for my family.

What you need:

-          Paper cups

-          Card stock

-          Dry beans or rice

-          White glue

-          Colored markers

-          Scotch tape

-          Pencil

-          Scissors

-          An adult assistant

What you do:

Place a paper cup upside down on a piece of card stock and trace around the opening with a pencil. Then draw a slightly larger circle around the outside, leaving a gap of approximately ¼” around the edge.

Cut out the larger circle and then cut slits around the edge of the circle, from the outer rim to the inner circle, about ¼” apart to create tabs all the way around the circle. Fold the tabs up.

Place a small handful of beans or rice into the paper cup.

Put a generous bead of glue inside the tabs at the edge of the circle and place on top of the paper cup, then press down the edges of the paper circle onto the outer edge of the top of the cup, pressing securely.

Once glue is completely dry, use markers to make a festive pattern on the cup.

When you’re happy with your design, use scotch tape to secure the circle in place around the top of the cup – to be sure your beans don’t fall out!

Now shake away!

Hi there! It’s me, Roberta, and this year I’m not going to be quite so ambitious and try to make ALL my gifts (was I ever exhausted after last Christmas!) but I do want to make SOME crafts. I mean, it is kinda my thing, right?

So I am definitely making my own Christmas cards. I came up with these cute thumbprint snowmen (the same idea as the thumbprint bunny cards I made for my mom’s baby shower invitations). They’re so easy!

What you need:

-          Colored construction paper (I used blue like the sky, but green or red or your favorite color would work too!)

-          White paint

-          Black paint

-          Orange marker

-          Black marker

-          Scissors

-          Glue stick

-          White cards or white paper

What you do:

Pour a little white paint onto a palette or a scrap of paper. Dip your thumb in the white paint and press it down on the colored construction paper. Then dip your pointer finger in the white paint and press it down on top of your thumbprint to make your snowman’s head. Leaving enough space to cut them out, make as many white snowmen as you’d like.

When your white paint is dry, pour a little black paint onto a palette or a scrap of paper. Dip your thumb into the black paint and press it on top of the smaller white fingerprint to make your snowman’s hat.

When the black paint has dried completely, use an orange marker to draw a small horizontal line from the centre of your snowman’s face to make a carrot nose. With a black marker, draw dots for eyes, a mouth and buttons, and draw a line across the bottom of the hat to make a brim. If you like, you can use another color marker to add a scarf and a brown marker to make arms. (Me, I like to keep it simple.)

If you are using white paper, fold an 8.5×11” sheet into a card.

Cut out the blue paper with your snowmen into rectangles slightly smaller than the size of your cards. Cover the back of the blue rectangles with glue and stick to the front of each card.

Cute, huh? What a cool way to wish your friends a Happy Holiday!

Here’s how you can make your very own log cabin.

What you need:

-          An empty milk carton, rinsed

-          A package of drinking straws

-          Card

-          Glue

-          Scissors

-          Brown paint

-          Paint brush

-          An adult assistant

What you do:

Have your assistant help you cut a small door in front end of the milk carton (the side that makes a triangle at the top) and two windows on either side.

Trace the triangular top end of the milk carton onto a piece of card and cut out two pieces.

Cut about 40 drinking straws to the width of the milk carton. Cover the sides of the milk carton with glue and stick the straws to the sides, leaving a gap where the windows are cut out. Cut enough straw pieces of about 1” to cover the walls on either side of the windows.

On the front of the milk carton, measure the space on either side of the small door, and cut enough straws to make the logs on either side of the door. Cut enough straws to the wide of the carton front to cover it up to the base of the triangle and glue the straws onto the carton. Repeat on the other side.

Take the small piece of cards that you traced from the triangular top of the carton and glue straws onto them. Trim the straws to the same size as the triangles. Glue the straw-covered triangles over the triangle at the front and back of the carton.

Allow glue to dry and cover the entire cabin with brown paint. If you like, you can decorate the cabin by hot gluing small stones around the window and door, and even make a small chimney out of stones.

Roberta here with a super-easy, super-cute craft: button magnets! My mom sews, so we always have LOTS of buttons around. She lets me do whatever I want with them, so I decided to make some really cute magnets. Here’s how I did it!

What you need:

Buttons, strong craft glue OR cool-temperature hot glue gun, round magnets

What you do:

1.       Put a blob of glue on the back of your button.

2.       Put the magnet onto the button.

3.       When the glue is dry, put your button magnet on the fridge.

4.       Super easy and super cute!

Roberta here with an exciting new craft! My mom bought me a pretty plain looking pencil box for back to school, but I decided to jazz it up a bit. So check out my brand-new, totally awesome, totally unique pencil case!

This is how you make one of your own!

What you need:

Cardboard pencil box, sequins, craft glue, glitter, scissors, scrapbooking or fancy paper, markers

What you do:

1.       Decide on a design for your pencil case. There are so many different options! You could:

a.       Cut out the fancy paper and cover the box with it, then decorate

b.      Cover the box with sequins

c.       Cover the box with glittery designs

d.      Draw on the box

2.       Make sure to put your name somewhere on the box so that everyone knows it’s yours!
