Steve Webkinz here. It’s hard to imagine Webkinz World without Arte Fact, but when Webkinz.com launched in April of 2005, it originally didn’t include the Curio Shop. However, just over a year later, the idea for a place where players could find some special items arrived in Kinzville.

The original version of the Curio Shop launched in early 2006 with a lot fewer options than are available today. What hasn’t changed is that Arte still updates his stock every hour, and not only is there a random chance that you’ll find an item that can only be found in the Curio Shop, but if you come at the right time, you might even finds a rare item!

Arte’s stock consists of a mixture of different items, including clothing, furniture and decorations from the KinzStyle Outlet and the WShop. While some of these items can be picked up for a discount, you’ll have to be careful, because sometimes Arte’s prices can be more expensive than in other shops. However, if you’re looking for a Curio Shop-only item or a rare item, those prices always remain the same.

While Curio Shop-only items have more recently become easier to spot since adding the “Arte’s Favorite” sticker, rare items are not. It takes a savvy shopper to know how to spot something rare.

One way to make finding rare items easier is by building your friendship with Arte. The better friends you are with him, the more specific he’ll get when you ask him about rare items. When you become one of his best customers, he’ll even tell you exactly when a rare item will be in stock.

How do you become one of Arte’s favorite customers? Here are three easy tips:

1. Visit the Curio Shop every day
2. Buy things from him as often as possible
3. Leaving a generous tip is always appreciated

Also, don’t get too comfortable once you’ve become a good customer. If you stay away from the Curio Shop for too long, Arte may just start being less enthusiastic to see you when you finally return.

Later in 2006, the idea for a daily Gem Hunt was proposed. Because Doug the Dog had been featured as the gem-loving character in the W-Tales, the original concept was supposed to have Doug as the host in a separate Gem Hunt location in Kinzville. However, rather than add a whole new section, the Gem Hunt was instead added to the Curio Shop. “The Last Adventure” W-Tales story was later created to explain how the gem mines came to be under Arte’s control and how that affected Arte’s and Doug’s friendship. Of course, Doug the Dog now appears randomly in the Collector’s Room of the Clubhouse and will trade you any extra gems you’ve collected for some special prizes!

In 2009, an extra Deluxe section was added to the Curio Shop. Like the section for other players, the stock for Deluxe Members changes every hour, and there is an extra daily rare!

IT’S FINALLY HERE! The ability to move rooms around on your Webkinz House Map!

Have you been frustrated with the large and sprawling layout of your House Map? We’ve now added a “Move Room” feature which will allow you to re-arrange your rooms and make them more manageable!

Just look for the NEW “Move Rooms” button next to the “Add Room” button on your House Map. Moving rooms works similarly to adding rooms. Once you toggle the moving rooms mode ON, you will see all of the highlighted options where you can move your room.

The one rule is that all rooms must remain attached to your house by at least one wall, so you cannot start splitting your rooms up into separate islands. If you move a room and create an island, the House map will automatically close the gap, re-connecting the room(s) to the main map.

Don’t like the location of a door in your room? Now you can move that room to another part of your map and attach it by a different wall, which in turn will change the location of the door.

If the doorway between your rooms occupies the same spot as a wall decoration, that item will automatically be sent back to the NEW tab of your Dock.

If your pet is standing in a doorway that is removed after you move a room, your pet will still appear floating in the same place, but then you’ll be able to walk them into the room from that spot afterwards.

The ability to completely delete a room is still planned for sometime in the future, but for now this feature should finally give players much more control over the layout of their Webkinz houses!

Don’t forget to dress your pets up in their favorite costumes before heading out to the party!

Hi everyone, Steve Webkinz here. In today’s special report, I’m going to take a look at the latest updates for Pet Medallions!

If you don’t know anything about our new Pet Medallion system for adopting pets, you’ll want to first read our introduction to Pet Medallions here.

While we’ve been slowly rolling out sets of pets to collect with medallions, the most recent ones are intended to be the last for the near future. This means there are a total of 24 different pets that you can adopt with Pet Medallions.

Not only do different pets require different amounts of medallions to adopt them, but the chance of getting each medallion has different rarities as well. Here’s a look at each pet’s medallion value and rarity:

Out of the 24 pets, 2 of them (the Rainbow Googles and the Diamond Dragonfly) are exclusive to the Pet Medallion system, which means that it’s the only way that you can adopt them!

There is also an “Any Pet” Pet Medallion that can be collected and used towards any of the 24 pets. When you get one, it is automatically added to the Any Pet Medallion counter on your Pet Medallions screen. You can then add it to a specific pet by selecting that pet in the Medallions tab and then clicking the Any Pet Medallions transfer button in the top left (orange) area of your screen.

If you’ve collected 10 medallions for a pet, you can also trade them for 1 Any Pet Medallion. Just select that pet and then click on the exchange button on the bottom left (blue) area of your screen.

There are now many more ways to collect Pet Medallions than there were when we first launched this feature.

Arcade games marked with a red gift box can award prizes for a “Great Play” (i.e., a specific score threshold). One of the prizes included in those drops are Pet Medallions. All games in the Webkinz mobile app Arcade can award a prize drop.

The “Great Play” score is different for each game. We can’t tell you what those scores are because there is only a chance that you’ll get a prize drop if you hit it, however we have recently increased the odds of getting a prize drop when getting a “Great Score”.

We’ve also added Pet Medallions to the Daily Delivery, so there’s a chance you’ll win one each day that you log into your Webkinz account.

We’ve also added a floating Pet Medallion that you can click on and collect 1 additional medallion per day.

Deluxe Members will now find a Deluxe Pet Medallion Gift Box among their monthly prizes. Inside is a random assortment of rare, uncommon and common Pet Medallions, including a chance at getting an Any Pet Medallion!

We also plan on offering more Pet Medallions as part of other prize pools and special offers in the near future. Keep watching Webkinz Newz for the latest updates!

Hi everyone, Steve Webkinz here. In today’s special report, I’m going to take a look at some specialty storage items.

For those that don’t like a lot of clutter in their Docks or rooms, storage items can offer the perfect solution for keeping everything neat and tidy.

When we first launched Webkinz World, the only storage items we had were toyboxes and fridges. Since then, we’ve expanded to allow wardrobes and closets to store clothing. We also have “Swatch Closets” that can store away Wallpaper and Flooring. While most are only sold at the eStore, the Samples Style Cabinet is available for KinzCash in the Storage subcategory of the WShop!

If you have a lot of coupons cluttering your Dock, the Ganz eStore has a Couponer’s Chest of Drawers to help you store them away.

This past St. Patrick’s Day, we gave away a Lucky Coin Box, which can be used to store away all of your collectible coins!

We now also have 2 garages which can be used to store away some of your pet’s favorite vehicles! The Tie-Dyed Garage is sold at the eStore, and the Garage Shed was given away as a prize to members during our June 2018 Deluxe Day!

Hi everyone, Steve Webkinz here. In today’s special report, let’s take a look at some of the recent changes to Webkinz Newz.

WebkinzNewz.com began as an official information site for Webkinz.com. When Ganz Studios began developing new games outside of Webkinz, there was an effort to create a single portal which tied all of these various properties together. For this purpose, Webkinz Newz then became part of the much larger Ganzworld.com site. Features like an arcade with its own reward currency and prizes were created to add incentive for exploring all around the GanzWorld portal.

As the other Ganz games ran their course and closed down, we’ve returned back to where we started, —with GanzWorld only featuring Webkinz Newz. On the back end, there has also been an ongoing process of moving everything away from unreliable data centers (which led to repeated site down time) and into a much more stable cloud environment.

To make the site run more efficiently in this new environment, not only was it streamlined down to only include Webkinz related news and information, but other features like the GanzWorld Arcade were also removed. However, the “Moneyz” currency earned on Webkinz Newz accounts can still be redeemed for prizes and sent back to Webkinz accounts.
