Baby Showcase #195

Happy Thursday!

It’s the last Thursday of September and spooky season is upon us! We’ve got a cute line up of pets this week and we’ve got the highlights from last week’s Spark Party at the end.

First up is this super cool Cotton Candy Raccoon with Legendary Dragon horns and eyes! The leopard spots look pretty cute on this blue baby, and I like how the eyes, ears and feet all have a slightly different color. Love these hybrids!

This Unicorn is so pretty! i love the pink musical notes and that subtle rainbow on the back. The River Otter’s sparkle eyes look lovely on this pet and that chest patch is sparkly and gorgeous!

I already love Moon Bears, so Moon Bear with Legendary Dragon horn is even better! The deeper blue really shows off the sparkly galaxy markings and that blessed by a rainbow flair goes perfectly with that little pink tulip pet patch. The horns are so pretty, and they pick up a bit of the green in those earth eyes!

Now this Legendary Dragon would be perfect for Valentine’s Day with its purple wings, sparkly feet, and that Two Hearts pet patch from the Raspberry Swirl Cat! The lava horns really stand out against the winter kissed body color and those blue eyes are adorable.

I love the unexpected traits on this spicy cinnamon Gingerbread Puppy! Take a look at those pretty inner ears — the green fabric ears and ornate spring back pattern come from a Spring Fawn, while the chest lightning are from a Giraffe. Those power pink eyes pick up the sweet candy dots on the body!

This sweet pink Gorilla gets an upgrade with those Moon Bear markings! The rainbow flair on the legs plays up the pink, while the teal eyes are a lovely contrast.

Last but not least is my second Marble Cat baby! You can see the first one sparked in the Spark Party below. I named this one Cinnamon Swirl because of its adorable swirl markings on its arms. It has the fuzzy tiger back pattern from a Pixie Tiger, along with that purply pink pixie house pet patch. I really love the grey eyes on this pet, especially with the sparkly white ears.

That’s it for this week. Be sure to check out the video below and keep an eye on the showcase as staff members spark some of the newer pets. The new plush will in stores on Oct 15 and you can check out the Store Locator (linked from www.webkinz.com) and search for retailers in your area!

Wow! It looks like you all had a fabulous time at the spark party! Thank you, hosts, for giving us a sneak peek at some of the brand new pets. I can’t wait to see their trait lists when you have them available to share. Sally, your Calico inherited some awesome traits and is really fierce looking! Congrats to everyone on your wonderful new webbie babies!

The Calico cat is gorgeous!!! Remember, Calico cats are only females, in real world, the gene for black and for ginger color are on X chromosome, so they have to have 2 chromosomes X, therefore they are all girls!!!

There are some chimera calicos that are male!

Another way that this can happen is if the male cat has Klinefelter’s Syndrome, where they inherit an extra X chromosome and have XXY chromosomes. This can happen if there is an error in the first cell division in meiosis (during the formation of an egg) where the X chromosomes do not separate, leading to an egg having two X chromosomes in an egg instead of one. When fused with sperm that has a Y chromosome, it can lead to a kitten that has XXY. Since it only takes one Y chromosome for a cat to be male, but it takes two X chromosomes with the calico trait for a cat to be calico, that’s how a male calico cat can also exist.
