Special Report with Michael Webkinz

Hello Webkinz Newz readers, Michael Webkinz here with a special report!

When we add a new room theme to the W-Shop, we like to ask for your help with deciding which one to add. The first time we allowed players to choose a new room theme was in 2014. Players had 5 choices to pick from: Sweets & Treats, Plaid, Clothing Store, Toadstool and Lemon Drop. We released a concept drawing of each theme and left it to you to choose by holding a vote, right here on Webkinz Newz.

Players picked the Toadstool theme as their favorite, and it was added to the W-
Shop later that year.

The next theme we released was the Sweet 16 room theme. Once again this was decided by a vote on Webkinz Newz:

Then, we added the hotel theme to the W-Shop. This theme included a variety of items that you could use to build a hotel lobby and guest rooms. We actually released Haunted Hotel items later that year as Halloween prizes, which players could use to “hauntify” their hotels. Spooky!

We also allowed players to vote for our seasonal Halloween and Christmas room themes but the last permanent theme that was added to the W-Shop was the Party Time room theme. This theme was actually suggested by a fan and was picked by players by another vote on Webkinz Newz:

Soon it will be time to add another room theme to the W-Shop which will, once again, be determined by a vote right here on Webkinz Newz. Do you have any suggestions for new room themes that you’d like to see added to the shop? Were there themes that didn’t win in the past that you’d like to vote for again? Let us know by leaving a comment below!

Look for the Toadstool, Sweet 16, Hotel and Party Time room themes in the W-Shop on web & on the Webkinz mobile app.

This has been Michael Webkinz reporting for Webkinz Newz…

How about a MOUNTAIN LAVA TROLL theme. Like “KING IN THE MOUNTAIN” ? Lava walls and floor LAVA TREADMILL and fire lava pool tub and or a pool to swim in. 2 ICE CUBES stacked one on the other for a fridge !! We can add our ROCK LEDGES in the room and you already have GNOME costumes and a Devil costume. . The MAGIC THEME has HOT COALS we can walk on not to mention all the E-STORE LAVA pieces to match in. Just add gem piles and maybe a DRAGON BED So a GMOME , TROLL(we could use a costume) or a Devilish critter added to this room could be designed in so many many ways. Why our Dragon pets could easily live there !! ” KING in the MOUNTAIN ” !!

A LIGHT could be made as a little fire creature like the fire lights in the forest in the movie “BRAVE” bright small (1 space) look like a FIRE CRITTER ; )

I would have to say that the Pretty Pink and the Country themes are probably my all time favorites of the first rooms that I ever developed several years ago. There are so many wonderful choices and I have had hours of fun decorating. I always love when I get a new furniture or wall/floor piece as prizes! I get really excited when I see the W float across the screen because many of them are Superfan items and I really like that theme as well! I even got one or two of the special clothing pieces that go with it!!

Such a great point, megamom12—I love the Superfan theme; there’s a great variety of items, and they’re so well designed. (I get excited when I see the “W” float across the screen, too! Lol) I’ve done several rooms with just Superfan items, and I’ve always been pleased with the results.

      Great idea!

I think there should some kind of candy room theme, maybe Easter of cotton candy, but something sugary.

I say we need some sort of sci-fi room theme! The only Kinzcash themes I can ever remember being sci-fi are the Galaxy theme, which is not a very large theme, and the Superhero theme, which has been retired to the Curio Shop for years now. We fans of science fiction need some love, Ganz! Maybe a Dinosaur Park theme (inspired by Jurassic Park, of course)? There could be different fenced-in habitats with dinosaurs or other prehistoric creatures inside, bushes with glowing “raptor eyes” peering out, and track pieces and cars to build the path that your Webkinz can drive through the park. Or how about a robotics factory? It could have a set of conveyor belts (with mechanical parts moving across them), robots shaped like different Webkinz pets, and lots of computers for “programming” the robots! And then there’s wonderful555′s super-cool idea for an alien room theme! I can see it now: flying saucers, crop circles, strange flashes of light, aliens peeking out from behind furniture! Think about it, you guys…I know I’m not the only sci-fi fan here!! :)

    • dinosaurtracker13 says:

And I know some people would oppose these sci-fi theme ideas for fear they would turn out “creepy”, but if we wanted Ganz to take it easy on the “creepy factor”, you know they could find a tame way to pull these ideas off. It’s certainly possible to portray dinosaurs, robots, and aliens as cute (otherwise “Land Before Time” and “Lilo & Stitch” wouldn’t exist). And it’s especially possible in the cuddly, colorful world of Webkinz!

I’d like the Webkinz 3000 to be in the vote again, it was my favourite theme from the last vote.

Hi Michael, Thanks for asking us; I would love to share my favorites. I’ve got so many: Favorite W-Shop Theme: it’s a tie–Campkinz and Sweet Sixteen. Favorite Curio Shop Theme: Medieval Theme. Favorite W-Shop Wallpaper: Enchanted Train Station. Favorite E-Store Theme: Pioneer. (I loved last Halloween’s Haunted Castle theme, too, but the Haunted Hotel from the Halloween before last, was equally exceptional. That wallpaper was so well-done, and so unique.) And thank you to my friend TropicalGirl for sending it to me!!

Perhaps another underwater room? I love the ones that we have, but there are only I believe 3 regular ones. There is the Sunken Ocean Liner but that is I believe an E-Store theme and is much harder for regular players to come by. Perhaps some items that will flesh out the wonderful Crystal Sea paper and flooring that we just acquired? Some older choices like the Sweets room and other more seasonal decor can be held until next appropriate holiday votes. Clinic/Hospital items to go with the new wheelchair, a couple of people have mentioned the Big City Loft theme so that one seems popular. There are so many wonderful choices!

    Zoo with endangered species.

  10. Michael Webkinz says:

You guys are so creative! Here’s a question… What is your favorite room theme of all time? I would have to say the Pirate and Diner themes are my favorites when it comes to W-Shop themes and the Medieval theme is my favorite rare. I was happy when the Haunted Castle room theme won last Halloween :)

    • dinosaurtracker13 says:

From the W-Shop themes, my favorites would have to be the Starry Slumber theme and the now-retired Superhero theme. As for themes elsewhere, my favorite rare theme is the Persian theme, and my favorite e-Store theme is probably the Celestial theme.

    • greencar says:

      Kids!!! Hands down!!

    • megamom12 says:

I was too! I LOVE the Medieval Theme. What about some other items that I might be able to use to flesh out the Renaissance Faire that I’m trying to develop?

    • TropicalGirl says:

Great question, Michael. After so many years of playing trying to choose favorites is hard!! But, my favorite rare is probably the Persian theme followed by the Victorian Garden theme. Favorite W-Shop theme is probably Beach House (no surprise there!), and Home for the Holidays as my seasonal choice. I do also love the newer Sweet Sixteen and Hotel themes, too. Btw, 1Miruna and Nattie, your rooms are beautiful! Congratulations on being featured.

Would it be possible to show case the non winning room ideas again..some time has passed and its hard to remember…

    • MyLittlePony2010EG13 says:

UGGGHHHH, that is a hard question, Michael. I like them all. But I really like the Girls Rule(not sure if that’s a theme or not, but it a favorite because of the items and stuff), Undersea, Fruitland, Nursery(The chair is my fav)Bake Shop, Teddy Bear, Manic Magic, Boutique(I miss that clubhouse room!), Cafe, Sugar Plum Sparkle, Winter, Ski Village,Movie Magic, Dance Studio, Story Book, Sweet 16, Sports Fan, Kinzville, Rock N Roll(the retired one), Enchanted Elves, Fantasy, Stripes, Giant Teacup, Lots of Dots, Dragon Hero, City Styling, Creative, Pop Star, Tinkerpunk, Jolly Jubilee, Party Time, and the Studio Loft. OKAY, I COULDN’T NAME ONE.

    • 1Emerald1 says:

I’m with you, Michael, the Medieval theme is my favorite Rare & I was thrilled with the Haunted version. I think the Beach House is my fave Wshop theme & Home for the Holidays ties with Country Christmas for favorite Holiday theme. I could not possibly choose a single favorite eStore theme, too many choices, sorry! Basically, everything that’s outdoors-ish and beautiful are my favorites!

    • Matoaca114 says:

My favorite is the Lily Pad Theme, but it is retired, and I cannot find the items anywhere!

    • nikkicoco2012 says:

i loved the haunted and halloween themes, but my favourite themes are the diner and cafe, and also the general store! im building a little city center for my webkinz so anything that can make a cute little town works for me!

    • habibi24 says:

My favorite rare theme is the Egyptian theme. I was so sad when it was retired. :(

    • FoxesRule612 says:

My favorites are the Secluded Garden Theme, 70′s Theme, Celestial Theme, and the Toadstool Garden Theme!

    • huggablehoneys4ever says:

City Styling is my favorite wshop theme, but the Blue Ave theme from the eStore is my #1 favorite. I have around 5 rooms made with that theme, and they all look different! The Country Christmas theme was also pretty great.
