The Webkinz Newz community recently chose the Treat or Treat Street theme as this year’s Halloween room theme and today, I am excited to show you the first set of concept drawings!
I really like how this theme is turning out, but there is still some time before the artists start modeling each item in 3D. This is your chance to leave feedback in the comments section below. Tell us what you like or don’t like about each item or how you would make them better. We will be reading each comment carefully and take all your suggestions into consideration before making the final items.
Here is a look at the homes that will be included in this theme. You will be able to add the homes to the border of an outdoor room to create the feel of a neighborhood that is decorated for Halloween. There will be three different homes, each featured in a unique color. You’ll be able to mix and match colors or set up a neighborhood using only one. Do you like the colors we used?:
We added the road tiles that you could collect playing SPREE to the W-Shop and now you’ll have sidewalk pieces to match them. I think they will be perfect to use as pathways leading to each house as well. The paw prints are a nice touch but you don’t need to use them if you don’t like. The sidewalk tiles will change slightly when you rotate them in your room:
This lamp post is beautiful and I love that it will glow purple when it’s turned on. The Trick or Treat banner is also the perfect touch. What do you think?:
The last concept drawing I have to show today is a hedge that is decorated for Halloween. The concept drawing features a giant spider decoration resting on top of the hedge, but it will change with each rotation, giving you lots of design options:
Don’t forget to leave a comment letting us know what you like or don’t like about each item. You could have a hand in how the final pieces will look! We will be taking every comment into consideration.
Stay tuned for some more concept drawings coming soon. I plan on posting them on Saturday, Aug 17th.
I love it! Could there be anything- like a mat or something- to put on the floor of an outdoor room to resemble fallen leaves?
apwsprinkle, There is a large fall leaf tile! You can place it indoor or outdoor. It’s quite lovely. Hopefully it will be available this fall somehow. If I had more, I’d send you one but I don’t have any extras. Hope you find one!
I personally love the cobwebs thrown about(spiders too). When we Trick or Trick throughout our neighborhoods each year, it’s a popular decor used. Some neighbors even has light, sound and motion effects to it. It’s great! Makes the Trick or Treat experience more spooky. We love the efforts our neighbors puts on to decorate and make a great Halloween looking scene out there. They love Halloween too. Spooky eyes peeking out of the hedges would be a great option when rotated too! We started sticking eyes in our hedges when decorating for Halloween. Looks very cool and spooky. We got the idea online.
This is the theme I voted for – it has so many possibilities. The purple, green, and orange colored houses are the same colors as last years three Goblins – the colors need to change. I was hoping for a variety of house fronts that look more realistic – similar to the brick store fronts of the Christmas theme. The past few years have been dusty musty and cobwebby hotels and mansion rooms – I’d rather this new theme be a more happy and cheerful version of Halloween. We had that huge costume collection event last year and I would to dress up my pets in those costumes and let them loose for a fun evening of trick or treating. I do like the hedges – please make one side undecorated. Did the spelling error get corrected on the park bench? I’m looking forward to seeing more concept drawings.
I totally agree! A more happy and cheerful version of Halloween. We already had the Freaky Forest theme (which I didn’t use). I was really hoping this would be a really cool neighborhood trick or treating – less spooky. Also, I do not like the hedges at all – please not so much cobwebs. They were great in the Haunted Castle theme, which is my favorite all-time Halloween theme.
EStore has a radio with spooky sounds . It could be placed next to a house or between or behind a tree someplace it can be easily clicked ;)
Oh my, just saw another comment and agree. How cute would it be if the houses dispense one candy treat a day when the pet rang the doorbell? LOL Too cute!
That would be adorable! and also really helpful I would definitely get one.
That would be awesome but remember, this theme is for the w-shop. I don’t remember them EVER putting a dispenser of any kind in the w-shop, dispensers are always for the estore. Sigh. Love the idea though.
The dispenser idea is a good one! If they keep things realistic, houses would only give out candy during Halloween, not all year-round. So, this would make it totally do-able for WShop availability. Kinda like the Hanukkah candelabras light up only during that time.
The sewing theme has a PINCUSHION pup add BOBBLE HEADS infront and you have ZOMBIES ;)
I really love the spider on the hedge, can’t wait to get that. The houses are too uniform in shape and size, more variety would be good and more Halloween decorations on them would be great. The green and yellow houses should have different coloured trim like the purple one to make the windows stand out more. I love the lamp post just the way it is.
I LOOOOVE where this theme is headed and just how I was picturing it when I voted for it. I really do like the comment suggestion of the houses being different heights and such so it doesn’t look so uniform if you line them all up a street, I love you’re reading suggestions carefully because I’ve been crossing my fingers, hoping you will all include a SPOOKY FULL MOON for the wall, making it look like it’s in the sky!!! One that can change with a click. One that has clouds slightly in the way, then parting, another that has a silhouette of a witch, another that looks like an orange blood moon. I’ve been wanting one for all my outdoor Halloween rooms! I’m in love with that lampost!!!! I also love the sidewalks! Things are looking great. Keep up the good work! Thanks for sharing and taking comments. I love Halloween!!
I love your moon idea but it wouldn’t work with these houses, they only go in outdoor rooms.
Actually, it would work & has already been done. Not sure how long you’ve played Webkinz but they had a blue moon as a prize for members during their Smurf campaign, promoting the movie. I have one and use it outdoors with my Toadstool theme. I love it! I just need the designers to now make a Halloween-ish looking one now for a perfect touch to this Trick or Treat Street theme!
A moon with a silhouette of a boy on a bike with a small green alien in the front basket would really liven things up! ;) Bwaaaa-haa-haa!!
Hahaha…love it!
I like everything except the houses, which are just recolored versions of the same house, which is not a good look. When I voted for this theme I was under the impression that these outdoor-only, back edge of the room-only houses would have the same variety & charm of the Christmas Village theme, but they do not. Even if someone wanted to do a room of nothing but identical brownstone houses, at least the decorations on them should have some variety. This is like, really???
After reading the comments, I have an idea on how to reconcile normal colored homes and the Halloween colored homes…rotate option or click to ‘light up’ choices above for nighttime look.
The possibilities for this theme are truly ENDLESS.
Ohh, yes, larzy!! What a great idea! I second this! Make the houses change from the spooky Halloween to the happy realistic houses when rotated. That would be amazing!
That way everyone could get what they want. Maybe this whole theme could be like that, either spooky/creepy or cute/fall-like with the rotations of the items.
PLEASE
I was hoping for a more “realistic” neighborhood feel.. Houses should be different, 3 types and colors ok but 1 should be a ranch and another one a bungalow and the 3rd like you have it. Different colors are great. Hedges like a kid is trick or treating, not too scary but options. Finally a strip of candy bowls/spooky items on a rectangle that can go in front of house as the halloween candy. three different types
Cool! The Never-Ending Candy Bowl in the Ganzworld Rewards will work great with this theme. And for those who don’t know it’s a peek-a-boo item for your pets to play in! I would love different shaped houses. Maybe a little creepier like the Addams family or the Munsters. I like the tile. I hope they can be used for other themes as well. Thanks Ganz! Great work design team! :)
