anyone like horses!? If so tell me your favorite: breeds,colors,style of riding,books with horses, and horse movies. And if you need horse advice ask me or go to Stealthstorm’s horse advice forum. Stealthstorm knows a lot about horses and she owns her own horse. (If Stealthstorm or my other friends would like the help they are more then welcome.):D~Dapplegreyhorse

  mimitwinkle, I am in the city and I take lessons. you might have to drive for 20 or 30 minutes, but it’s worth it. :) I know people that have horses and live in the city. inki14, I didn’t know you liked western more. :) I have done both. Hey Stealthstorm, so glad to have you help me! :) I love totilas too, and i like winnie the horse gentler too. :D Dressage is my fav! ~dapplegreyhorse

  A female horse is called a mare.
  A young male horse is called a colt.
  A young female horse is called a filly.
  Ponies are small horses. Horses can sleep both lying down and standing up.
  Horses can run shortly after birth.
  Domestic horses have a lifespan of around 25 years.
  A 19th century horse named ‘Old Billy’ is said to have lived 62 years.
  Horses have around 205 bones in their skeleton.(Arabian horses have less)
  Horses have been domesticated for over 5000 years.
  Horses are herbivores (plant eaters).
  Horses have bigger eyes than any other mammal that lives on land.
  Because horse’s eyes are on the side of their head they are capable of seeing nearly 360 degrees at one time.
  Horses gallop at around 44 kph (27 mph).
  The fastest recorded sprinting speed of a horse was 88 kph (55 mph).
  Estimates suggest that there are around 60 million horses in the world. Miniature horses are even smaller than ponies. Ponies have thicker manes and tails than horses.   Dapple, I’d love to help! And thanks for recommending me! You are very kind. :D My fave breed is a Morgan or Haflinger! :D They are so beautiful! I love buckskins, chestnuts, and black. :D I love black because of Totilas! Best dressage horse EVER! My style of riding is dressage. I love it cause it challenges you and is elegant. Hmm…I tend to love any horse book!!! I own so many, I really love Winnie the Horse Gentler. And my favorite horse movie is Secretariat. Congrats on the forum!!! ~Nashville

  My favorite breeds of horses are first and foremost Lipizzaners, then I love the big draft horses like the Clydesdale, Gypsy Vanner, Percherons, etc.
