Webkinz Road Trip team at Lee Memorial Children’s Hospital

Yesterday we visited Lee Memorial Children’s Hospital and had a fantastic day.  We played games, talked with families and had a great experience.

A big thank you to the hospital for letting us come and play with all the wonderful kids.  It was a day none of us will forget.

I have a daughter with cancer, and this is such a wonderful idea. Sick kids have a lot of time where they can’t get up and play, and this is a perfect gift and activity. What a fantastic thing to do. If Webkinz could do this in many cities, it would be wonderful. Kudos to Webkinz for this!

I am sorry about your daughter, Shanti! I hope she gets better real soon!

I’m sorry about your daughter! My grandma lost the battle to cancer when I was little… :( cancer runs in my family.

    • Julie says:

I am sure the kids will be talking about it for while :D Webkinz is great when you’re stuck in bed. I don’t know what I’d do without my laptop! I know what it’s like to be so sick and in and out of the hospital and little gifts, crafts, a nice meal, special guests, and therapy dogs visits are a great distraction. If you want to add some more stops you could try the Ronald McDonald House… =) They’re great and everyone over there can always use a pick me up!

Shanti I hope your daughter gets through her treatment and all goes well so cancer can just be another thing that happened and is in the past. When I was in the hospital for weeks my mom had a little gift and a card for me every day and it helped a lot and gave me something positive to look forward to. Hugs, Julie

I hope your daughter gets better, Shanti! I have an aunt with cancer, it started as breast cancer, then it spread to her bones and back and basically everywhere! She has lived for about three years more than she was supposed to!! yea! But a couple months ago, things took a turn for the worse, so her husband took her and their five kids on a cruise, and family was going up there. But recently, we got a email that said her cancer tumors had a reduction in the size, so I hope she will be getting better now!

Yes I agree. Laptops and webkinz should be also donated to hospitals if the webkinz gang cannot visit ! Maybe some profit from the E Store could go towards it or have a week or certain length of time where when webkinz are purchased a percentage goes towards this idea :)

I think that is a nice idea, but don’t forget, kids -like Shanti’s daughter- are very much at risk of getting even sicker form other people’s germs, especially on shared equipment like laptops. I think the individual gift bags were a nice and safer pick-me-up for the kids. When my child was sick in the hospital, I didn’t want him to touch anything for fear of getting sicker. I used to work in a hospital and I’ve seen a lot of yuck.

i think that is so neat of webkinz to do that. if i were a sisk kid in a hospital and got a webkinz pet from you guys in person it would be such an unforfogetable moment. thank you guys for making so mangy kids happy. you rock,

This is awesome! I agree with Emy4pandas–Webkinz should do this in every town. Imagine how great those kids felt today!

  4. Rachel says:

I sure do wish that theyd been doing this, when I was in the hospital last november, (2009) I was diagnosed with type one diabetes and I couldn’t go to webkinz on the internet, and I was there for 5 days, and neither of my sisters could come visit me. Having someone like that around in the hospital sure would have made me smile for a little bit, before I had to start learning to give myself shots ugh… :(

    • Cutie says:

I am sorry about your diabetes! The same thing happened to my sister’s best friend. Also, sorry about the shots! I hope things get better for you!

    • Rachel says:

Thanks, things are much better for me now, I’m on an insulin pump (no more shots) and I’m more adjusted to it, so yeah things are much better, I apriciate you caring about me and my desease. :)

    • littlemufftet77 says:

I have type one diabetes too… I got it when I was three. If they’d been doing that when I’d been diagnosed. Then I would probably have forgotten about a dilemma. Sigh.

    • Jeanene says:

We are going to the event! We will not need a ticket. They are usually outside in a parking lot, but I don’t know where they will be when they go to the location. I just know I will be there early and waiting with all our Webkinz friends that our car can hold! I know we are bringing five kids for sure. The Webkinz Tour is FREE!

  8. ESL says:

  10. Emy4pandas says:

This is exactly what Webkinz should be doing!!!! They should visit the children’s hospitals in every town they go in the tour. Awesome— :D
