With cats, the gene for ‘calico’ in a male usually makes a red tabby coat color. Not always, but male calicos are rare. Red tabby females are also rare (but not as rare as calico males- I had a red tabby female once). Usually calico males can’t father kittens. In the US calico does mean a tri-colored cat with white. White, black and reddish brown are the usual colors, but others are possible. (I once had a gray, white and pale red tabby calico). In other countries, this coloration may be called tortoiseshell and white.
i love cats! but i’m allergic to them :( my second cousins have the cutest kitten black in the world! but it isn’t a kitten any more the last time i remember seeing it was like 3or4 years ago.
Emma, I have two callico cats, and they have white on them but Blacky has more black and orange and ginger than white, Patches has more white!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to read a looot about Cats, but now I`m in to Dogs, so now I read alooot about Dogs, I also have two real live Pomeranians, one is black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, Patches (Also known as Platches!) and Blacky(Also known as Bleeky!) did have brothers there names were Buckshot and Coutar!! I never known Buckshot and Coutar because they ran away when I was younger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were that ginger and white because I seen pictures of them when they were kittens (Also known as “kits“ in the book series Warriors!)

Wow scoopsice. I don’t really like cats ether, but I must say this cat is pretty cute. I’m quit positive that Ganz knows that not all of us like cats, but they also know that a lot of people LIKE cats. So you don’t have to get the cat if you don’t want to.

i don’t like cats either, but this calico cat is pretty cool. i’m not saying i like cats, cause i don’t like them, but i’m just saying that this PARTICULAR cat is more interesting than other cats. but this cat still won’t make me like cats.
Yes oldgiraffe, but it doesn’t mean that there is NO male caliocos, and I call calicos with white coloring tortoiseshell and white myself cause that’s what I’ve grown up reading. Anyway, there is at least 5 different main breads of calico, the one with the more of the coppery brown color is the tortoiseshell tabby, or I guess the calico tabby.
