Hey everyone,
Great news! April and I made up. That is, we’re friends again. Maybe not best friends like before, but good friends. And I couldn’t be happier.
It all started when I was on my way to see Sparky at the Curio Shop. I was walking past the park when I heard someone crying. Normally I would be too shy to go and find out who it was, but this time…something made me investigate.
When I walked into the park, I saw April sitting at the picnic table, sobbing. I asked her what was wrong and she seemed shocked to see me. She tried to brush away her tears and say “nothing”, but I told her she couldn’t fool me.
She hesitated for a minute, but then finally blurted out, “I miss Kinzville SO much! And I miss YOU, Alex!”
I was REALLY surprised to hear that.
I sat down and we talked for about two hours. It turns out that things haven’t been so great at her new school. Even though her emails to me made things sound awesome, they’re really not. And when she was texting her ‘best friend’? Yeah. She wasn’t texting anyone at all.
Apparently the kids at her new school think she’s really weird and loud and that she doesn’t fit in. That’s why she wanted to get new clothes and that’s why she was acting the way she was; she wanted to practice being like the other kids. I told her that it’s the other kids who have the problem, not her. I also asked if she had joined any clubs, or tried to meet any of the kids in her neighborhood. She said no, she didn’t want to be made fun of any more.
So my advice to her was to talk to her parents, try to join a club, and try to meet the kids who live next door to her. I reminded her that we became friends when she jumped into my yard.
She apologized for being so awful, and asked if we could please go to the Curio Shop and then for ice cream. She said she’s missed La Soufflé’s banana ice cream parfait almost as much as me.
So that’s what we did. It was so nice, just to hang out with the REAL April again. My real, true friend.
Awesome ending, guys! Have the best Thanksgiving ever!
