Updated: Design A Halloween Pet Contest!

UPDATE: While we will not accept images that have computer generated patterns or graphics copied and added to them, participants may use programs like Paint or Photoshop to color and draw freehand. We appreciate that not everyone has a printer and a scanner and we want to make sure the contest is open to everyone.

Halloween in June??? That’s right – because this is your chance to design a Halloween Pet which will be sold in Ganz eStore in the fall. To enter first choose one of six templates provided below: Cat, Snake, Bat, Owl, Rat/Mouse or Frog. Then let your imagination run wild as you create your ghostly masterpiece. When you’re done you upload your final product to the Share Center.

The winner will receive a virtual version of their winning entry, a brand new Pet Design Trophy plus a 1 Year Deluxe Membership. The nine runners-up will receive a 1 Month Deluxe Membership.

The contest runs from June 1-30, 2016 and the winner will be announced on July 15.

A few things to remember…

  • You can enter as many designs as you want!
  • Contestants MUST upload their work to the Design A Halloween Pet Gallery on the GanzWorld Share Center. Never uploaded to the ShareCenter before? Don’t worry! It’s easy. Just watch this video to see how it’s done!
  • You can use any kind of art supplies that you want. Feel free to use markers, pencil crayons, crayons, or other art materials. Go for it!
  • Please use the templates provided. Only entries with the 6 different pets will be accepted.
  • You don’t NEED to include ideas for this pet’s adoption gifts (PSI & PSF), but you can draw them if you want.

I tried submitting an image but it won’t go through. Any idea why?

    • Sally Webkinz says:

How large is the file? What is it’s file format? What browser are you using? Have you ever submitted successfully before?

      • swimbryan says:

I’m not completely sure on the size but its the same as the others I just previously submitted. I am using Google Chrome. I submitted a few images earlier and they went through just fine. I’m not sure why this one isn’t.

        • Sally Webkinz says:

One of your images did go through — one was submitted without an image. It looks like you’re taking a picture with a phone — if your phone takes high resolution pictures, it could be that it’s too large a file. Are you uploading from your phone or are you sending the picture to your computer first?

          • Sally Webkinz says:

Scratch that, the image did show up for the other one.

          • swimbryan says:

I was a little confused by one email saying it went through and one saying it didn’t. Glad it went through, finally :D I’m sending them to my computer.

          • Sally Webkinz says:

See if you can find more information about the file — right click and get the properties or get info. The other two were teeny files, so I’m wondering if it was exported differently.

          • swimbryan says:

They all say the same size; 1344×2240 and they’re all .jpg.

          • Sally Webkinz says:

Hmm, strange. They’re definitely not uploaded at that size, as the ones on our server are tiny. Try resizing it to no more than 1000 pixels tall and upload it again.

Photoshop is not a free program, you have to pay for it. That is not fair as not everyone can afford it

    • Sally Webkinz says:

You don’t have to use Photoshop. You can use Paint, which comes preloaded with all Windows machines. There are plenty of free programs available for both PCs and Macs. And you are still welcome to print them off, color them and scan them. This is just providing more options.

  3. nmm033 says:

you can do a lot of cool effects on photoshop that you can’t do without it. This will just mean that a photoshop entry will win. Does that mean that older more tech savvy players have an advantage over younger players who only know how to draw on regular paper. Photoshop gives you so many more options. Now won’t an older player just win and us younger players don’t have a chance?

I wish there was a horse option! Those have been some of my favorite fan created designs!

I guess I should’ve paid more attention to the rules. I did mine all on a computer program…. Guess I’ll have to wait to print them up and then redo it…

Wow! This is pretty cool. We’ve got a whole month to create amazing Halloween pets. hmmm…. what will I do? What animal am I gonna pick? I don’t know but this is so exciting! :D

What if you’re already a deluxe member but you win the contest? Do you have to wait until the deadline, then it’s upgraded? Or does it just upgrade on that same day? I’m already a deluxe member, but I think getting an upgrade while I’m still deluxe is a problem. Thank you!

    • Sally Webkinz says:

You can’t renew a Deluxe Membership until the first one is complete, so it wouldn’t apply until after your current membership expires.
