Hi Hailey! Sorry – I know I promised to call you last night, but right now I can barely talk. It was my third concert last night and my voice is gone! You know, when I was recording my album, all the singing didn’t really take a toll on me, but I guess that’s because we had a lot of breaks and they were always having to stop and make adjustments, but when you’re up on stage for a concert you’re singing practically the whole time. By the end of the evening last night I was croaking out the lyrics. The audience didn’t seem to notice but today my vocal chords are aching. The chef made me some special tea which helped a little and all morning today I have been sucking on lozenges to soothe my throat. But I am trying not to talk at all. They tell me the best thing I can do is just rest my voice.
You know, touring isn’t exactly as glamorous as you might imagine.
I promise to call as soon as I can speak again!
Love,
El
Feel better soon Elwin!!!!!!!
Drinking hot tea with honey and limiting your talking when ur not singing will help alot.. Boy I hope your ok and that you feel better soon. Wish I could see or go to one of your concerts. Good luck with the rest of your tour..
Get better soon Elwin! Go back to helping Hailey again because THEN you won’t lose your voice. Ok? BTW I sing every day and I just love it! ;cathouse2 ^-^
Ugh. sore throats STINK! Elwin, get well soon! I love Irish dance and you love singing! Keep on doing what you love, no matter how hard it hurts! SEAWEED
awwwl, poor elwin!!! i hope you get better soon.
Congrats to ALL of you who LOVE to and DO sing for the enjoyment of yourselves and those of us who can’t. I wish with my whole heart that I could, maybe in a past lifetime I did. Want friends? Add jenniferobbi and poppopbear32. jennifer
Awwwww I’m sorry to hear that El. I hope you feel better soon.
That happend to me before too, Elwin – I lost my voice one time by singing for 24 hours, and I couldn’t talk or do anything. Even my friend, @SOAD Chick dared me to do screaming vocals to a screamo song, but that’s a different story, and it’s longer than the other story of me losing my voice for sing 24 hours. But I hope you get better, Elwin. :( Try not to talk at all, and your voice should get better. I couldn’t even talk, and I tried not to when I lost my voice from singing. I was going to play with my friend’s high school band, and sing, but I couldn’t, since my voice cracked out. ~Chicago Made ^.^ (My other sig. isn’t working)
i feel bad for you elwin sorry for the bad luck i have lost my voice before to when i was singing in a for a some singing lessons for a long long time and no breaks my voice started aching and got really really bad but what i did was drink hot tea and water and that helped 100% try drinking what the chef gave you i hope this helps~doglover p.s maybe come visit hailey to help design and them go back touring
@CM- Aw, that’s terrible. I feel your pain. When I was in 4th grade, I had to do a singing solo, but all the sudden, my voice went out, while luckily, I was on the last note. It was just so lucky, the audience didn’t even notice. In fact, they gave me a standing ovation! It just came out at the very last word of the song. That was really lucky. Right now, I’m actually always getting singing solo’s anymore! It makes me feel so happy! ;) -♥nihao9♥
@nihao9 – That’s cool! You’re lucky too. I mean, everytime I sing for my friend’s high school band, I always think of the time when I lost my voice that time. I couldn’t even talk or sing for, like, 2 months or so – That’s how bad it was. Even when @SOAD Chick dared me to do screaming vocals – That was worse than the other time I lost my voice. Screaming vocals were painful, and I know that you can destroy your vocals if you scream. It was bad. So painful too. ~Chicago Made ^.^
@CM- Aw, I feel so bad that happened. Yeah, the screaming vocals are really painful and do hurt. I bet your really good though! @BlueStar- Thanks so much! Which one were u again? I forgot because I have a lot of friends and it’s hard to memorize all of there names. LOL! ;) -♥nihao9♥
Aw thats terrible Elwin, @nihao9 . i wish i could hear you sing. we played in the cluchouse this morning!!!! you were a golden retriver named Victoria Justice!!!! you looked awesome!!! ;) BlueStar ;)
Aww, I’m sorry to hear that, Elwin. Tea works, but also try avoiding dairy products like milk, as my choir teacher told me those can mess up your throat for singing too. Get plenty of rest!! ~AutumnTheCuzzy~
feel better soon!
awwwww, poor elwin. hope you feel better soon!!!!!! i had a REALLY sore throat VERY recent too. like yesterday lol :D blahblah
Six years ago, I had a cold, and for some reason, it caused me to cough harshly for five months. My voice never lost all of it’s raspiness. Now I can sing again, but it still isn’t as clear and powerful as it used to be. Before I got my voice back, I took up guitar, and it turned out that I was a natural. I love to play it, but right now my back hurts, so I can’t
Remember how I got it too, Kodiak? I definitely didn’t get it as bad though. My voice is still clear, but I can sing as loud as I used to.
@Kodiak, sorry to hear that. That must have been a really tough time. @Elwin, I know you’ll feel better. Maybe you should quit the concerts, though. ♥
I hope you feel better Elwin. I hate sore throats, they’re awful. :-( ~CC~
I don’t like sore throats either, @CC. No one does, so you’re not alone. ~§~Rainbow Kitty~§~ PS: feel better Elwin.
Aw, poor Elwin. I guess it’s just too much for you now, huh? I hate sore throats, they’re so itchy and everything. Touring is glamorous, but just not the concerts part. ~Phoenix Wind~
