So Elwin and I were asked to make over the cabins. We started with the girls’ and boys’ cabins. Guess which one I chose? That’s right – the girls’! GIRL POWER!!!
Okay, I like pink as much as the next girl, but um – HELLO? This is a camp! Camps are made for getting dirty and getting wet and getting back to nature. This cabin belongs in a fairy princess camp! It looks like pink exploded in here! And who the heck puts WALLPAPER in a cabin? I don’t think so. We’re going to need to start from scratch to create a space that brings in the natural surroundings yet still has a feminine touch. Have I got my work cut out for me!
First things first – and that meant stripping off that wallpaper to reveal the natural beauty of the log cabin underneath. I think order is important when there’s a large group sharing a room so I decided to line up the bed in two neat rows (Elwin doesn’t necessarily agree with this choice, but – whatever, dude. He can decorate HIS cabin his way. This baby is mine!) I just love these supersoft Plush Pillows Beds – they recreate the look of a puffy sleeping bag and the colors are soft without being too girly. Some woodsy accents pick up the natural tones of the log cabin walls and the Ship Wheel Side Tables are a nautical nod to the nearby lake. And just so they won’t be completely distraught at the lack of pink, I threw a comfy, rosy Lush Lounge Chair into a reading nook in the corner.
I sure hope the girls won’t miss their pink palace – I think this soft, woody, understated cabin is much more appropriate.
I’m not a huge fan of either. Why did she have to use that ugly historic painting? It’s hideous! Why didn’t they put hammocks in it? Or sleeping bags?
I got to say I am not digging this design, it is to crowded. I think I like Elwin’s better (even though I am a girl).
i dont get it whats it for???
The beds totally don’t work for me.
I mean honestly this is SUMMER CAMP not a weekend at great aunt suzie’s house.
The plush chair also is just RANDOM. I think that there should be more colors and pizzaz
I mean really it didn’t scream “SUMMER CAMP!!!” when I saw it.
To me it was like: grandma sewed all the beds and uncle johnny hacked down a bunch of trees then they went to the nearest thrift store and made everything look alike.
C’mon, this is summer camp! Bright colors! Flowers! Games! Hiking and camping gear! I little section where they can all hang-out together
P.S. the new HARRY POTTER movie comes out in 8 DAYS!!!!!!!

Now that’s what I’m talking about! The first one isn’t natural like a cabin should be. Pink is nice, but I’m NOT a princess! The girl’s cabin improvement is MUCH better! Even better than the boy’s cabin! Take THAT! Beds are MUCH better and softer in plush form! There’s just enough room to relax and move around. Big improvement. Love it. And it still says “nature”! ;)
i love the first one cuz i’ts for *girls*
I think the new room is great. It certainly shouts “Outdoors”. Now, if only I could get my hands on that wallpaper and flooring…
I think Hailey did a good job on the new cabin, considering what beds she had avalible to work with. The plush beds kind of look like sleeping bags, to me. :)
sleeping bags *inside* random+inside=cool
I’ve never been to camp but I think there is too many beds and the green lamp and pink chair do not go with the room. I also think that it NEEDS something to make it more girly
i think it looked better before honestly it looks kinda lame now but that’s just me i guess :)
