Hailey reveals the girls’ cabin makeover

So Elwin and I were asked to make over the cabins. We started with the girls’ and boys’ cabins. Guess which one I chose? That’s right – the girls’! GIRL POWER!!!

Okay, I like pink as much as the next girl, but um – HELLO? This is a camp! Camps are made for getting dirty and getting wet and getting back to nature. This cabin belongs in a fairy princess camp! It looks like pink exploded in here! And who the heck puts WALLPAPER in a cabin? I don’t think so. We’re going to need to start from scratch to create a space that brings in the natural surroundings yet still has a feminine touch. Have I got my work cut out for me!

First things first – and that meant stripping off that wallpaper to reveal the natural beauty of the log cabin underneath. I think order is important when there’s a large group sharing a room so I decided to line up the bed in two neat rows (Elwin doesn’t necessarily agree with this choice, but – whatever, dude. He can decorate HIS cabin his way. This baby is mine!) I just love these supersoft Plush Pillows Beds – they recreate the look of a puffy sleeping bag and the colors are soft without being too girly. Some woodsy accents pick up the natural tones of the log cabin walls and the Ship Wheel Side Tables are a nautical nod to the nearby lake. And just so they won’t be completely distraught at the lack of pink, I threw a comfy, rosy Lush Lounge Chair into a reading nook in the corner.

I sure hope the girls won’t miss their pink palace – I think this soft, woody, understated cabin is much more appropriate.

i think hailey should of made the rows faceing each other…
    but thats just me..

I like the second one way better. The first looks like it’s ready for a princess theme sleepover. The makeover room is rustic enough for a cozy, camp cabin. You can imagine yourself back at summer camp….Just one mistake though……too many beds. In reality, bunk beds are the way to go and then a few other pieces of interesting furniture would fit in.

I agree. The before design is way to girly and pretty for it to be an actual cabin! The after design shows a more of a…. a outdoors and woodsy feel rather then something that looks like it’s from a super girly slumber party. I just wonder why there is two doors. Don’t cabins usually just have one door to go in and out of?

Hailey re-designed her room so it looks exactly like the boy’s room that Elwin disliked and changed. Also, Elwin changed his room so it looks like the girl’s room that Hailey changed!

i think the wheel tables are not for girls and the dragonfly lamp and the pink chair DO NOT match at all

I don’t really like either of them. The first is way too girly, but the second is way too plain. Maybe something more in the middle would look great!

Here’s the deal if anybody cares. The first cabin (with all the pink) needed to be “made under” but the new cabin look is way to made under. i don’t like the first room way to much pink and i don’t like the wallpaper in the first won and non of it is campish it just looks like a girls bedroom with a lot of sisters or something. The cabin that was “made over” looks in need of help and needs another “make over” and what’s with the icky prehistoric painting? The pink chair in new cabin is random and doesn’t go. The plush pillow beds are not a good look and like everybody is saying, it looks like a grandma’s bed and it doesn’t look like summer camp should. AND the dragonfly lamp does NOT match at all and ITS A BIG BUG GIRLS DO NOT LIKE BUGS!!! Bottom line the girls should have a different varitey of beds (not all the same) and different stuff on the side tables (like a teddy bear or fireflies or a book) AND I did a cabin because the boys cabin inspired my to do a cabin and camping thing.
P.s. I made a girl cabin and boy cabin and my cabin for the girls is WAY WAY WAY better

Sorry, but I disagree with you about the dragonfly lamp. I don’t love it it that particular room, but I don’t think you were right when you said girls don’t like bugs. I’m a girl, and I like a lot of bugs. Especially dragonflies. As for the room, the first one if awful, in my opinion. The makeover isn’t bad. I like that it now has a more “cabiny” look, and I kind of like the beds.
