More Fan Build Screenshots!

Hey Guys, I am excited about today’s post which features 7 room designs by expert designer; Autumn! These rooms are all inspired by the Harry Potter books & movies. Autumn actually sent me more than 7 designs, but I had to narrow it down so I picked my favorites.

Thanks to everyone who sent me a screenshot of their room… keep them coming!

first up is Autumn’s version of Harry’s room under the stairs in the Dursley house. Great design, especially for a small sized room:

Here’s a view of the Dursley neighbourhood on Private Drive:

This beautiful outdoor room features the Hogwarts Express on the way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Autumn has added Ron driving his father’s flying car after the design was finished:

Here’s a look at the Great Hall inside Hogwarts. Prof. Albus Dumbledore, Prof. Minerva McGonagall (cat on left) and Prof. Severus Snape (bat on the right) await the arrival of the students into the Great Hall.

I really like this design. It’s Hagrid’s Hut! The pumpkin patch and dragon statue are great touches:

This one is also one of my favorites that Autumn sent in. It’s Gringott’s Wizarding Bank! look at all that KinzCash:

The final two screenshots are classroom that would be found at Hogwarts. First up is the Denfense Against the Dark Arts class:

This last design is probably my favorite out of the 7 (although it’s so hard to choose a favorite). It’s the Herbology Class. There is so much going on here but everything is so well organized:

Congratulations Autumn. You are a such a talented room designer and I always look forward to seeing the screenshots you send me.

I hope that Autumn has inspired you to build new rooms for your house. Want to send us screenshots of some of your favorite rooms? E-mail them to me at letsbuild@ganz.com. Who knows, you might see them in a post right here on Webkinz Newz!

Which one of these room were your favorite? Please leave your comments below…

I’ve never seen any of the Harry Potter movies or read any of the books. Even I can see the great creativity in these awesome rooms and how they relate to Harry Potter. Super great job Autumn!

We love Harry Potter, so I really love these rooms! Well done! I literally just booked tickets for the Harry Potter package at Universal Studios yesterday so the kids can go this coming summer. This just makes me even more excited to go seeing these great rooms!

AUTUMN YOURE SO AWESOME!!!!!!!! But I never really liked harry potter AT ALL so I don’t like this theme. BTW, WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE ITEMS!!! They’re so cool! Especially those kinzcash stuff. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • MisakiKt says:

I mean it, I really don’t like Harry potter. Just don’t like that wizardry and potions and stuff like that. Blah……………

    • TElVid128 says:

Thank you for posting, Sweetie, and for your compliment. :) <3 It's okay that you don't care for Harry Potter. Everyone resonates in different spaces and that's cool! :) As for the items, the coin ones are old promos. They are tradeable though and pet interactive!! :) There's a good mix of everything in the pictures from WShop to promo items. These rooms took me MANY months to make and acquire what I needed. I'm really grateful to all those who traded with me and helped me out. It was a fun project! :) Take care!! :) <3 ~Autumn

I have seen all the Harry Potter movies with my grandson. These rooms are perfect. I would know them even with out a description. Please post the other rooms by Autumn. My guess is that anything she designs is worthy of a post.

    • TElVid128 says:

I sincerely appreciate your kind post and all you’ve said. :) <3 It also means a lot to me that you would like to see the other rooms as well!! There are still quite a few more! LOL I basically did what I could to combine all the movies and tell the story in a nutshell through Webkinz. If Michael does feature the others, I truly hope you enjoy those also!! :) <3 Smiles to you and thank you for taking the time to write!! <3 ~ Autumn

I meant, “As a member of a Christian family” :) Typos!

  7. barb539 says:

Nice rooms, however not a fan of photo shopping because it’s not a webkinz item or character. I guess it’s allowed because Michael posted the rooms, but it’s just not webkinz to me, basically because its not webkinz items.

    • barb539 says:

Meant to say, it’s not ALL webkinz items, and thus loses the webkinz feel.

      • TElVid128 says:

Thanks, barb539. I respect your opinion. As I said in another post, these rooms are not the typical ones you would see from me because of the photoshopping. Originally, I just made these for myself because I LOVE H.P. The thought I had to create these rooms excited me more and more as my ideas began to flow and I wanted them to tell the H.P. story Webkinz-style with a twist. It is something out of the ordinary and was just for fun. ;) ~ Autumn

Hi barb539, I understand what you’re saying, & I agree. But look at it this way: Now that Michael is posting altered (photoshopped) images, Fan Build will never be the same! The entire world of possibilities is now open to designers! We can now literally do ANYTHING. Think of something you’d like to have in WW. Even if Ganz doesn’t make it, if we can find an image of it, we can put it in our rooms. Frustrated by the limitations on certain items in WW? Change it! Seat those plushies on chairs, put them on beds or in vehicles! Drop in a backdrop from your favorite film! No need to buy multiple items any more, just copy them & drop them in! barb, we can break the laws of physics! This is incredible & possibly the best thing ever to happen to Fan Build! Woo-hoo!

      • barb539 says:

Hi 1Emerald1, I guess I am old school, I love using my mind to create out of what I have on hand that is actually webkinz items, or to me personally, it loses that webkinz feel or touch, Autumn’s Rooms are wonderful, unique, and well put together, and I do like them, sigh, but its just not webkinz to me when something is added that is not a webkinz item. I love, and respect everyone here, and different styles and personalities are what makes webkinz so great! I’ll keep building the same as I always have, because I am old school, LOL!! Oh and PS. Autumn, I hope I did not offend you, and if so, I’m very sorry. Big Hugs to all! And Emerald, it would be nice to see what you come up with! :)

        • 1Emerald1 says:

barb539, I do get it. I too enjoy the challenge of creating new scenes within the limits of the game. However I also love pushing “beyond” & have recently learned the basics of the photoshop program, so the idea of the leaping out of the box with the sky’s the limit is like Christmas to me. I’ll see what I can do & try to put some things up on the Share Center when it’s working right again. Looking forward to seeing more of your rooms up here soon too! They are always so good.

        • TElVid128 says:

barb539: You are fine, Sweetie. <3 No offense taken at all. I am one who enjoys the occasional challenges of decorating and working with what I have rather than adding things in like these particular rooms show. As I said before, it was something totally different, totally for fun. Personally, I don't think I would want to see room designs morph into such drastic new creations that Photoshop could provide, although in one's own space, it would be really fun. Perhaps another WKN section for rooms like that? I don't know. This was all in good fun and was not meant to push the boundaries or rub anyone the wrong way. It was just one of those abstract things for Harry Potter fans to enjoy. :)

Oh, and are there any room design tips that you wouldn’t be afraid to pass down to a rookie?

  9. otisbulldogmiddleton says:

Cool room designs’ Autumn! Very unique.

    • TElVid128 says:

Hi Love! This is now the THIRD time I am responding to say <3 thank you <3 and to offer some design suggestions that you asked about. My other 2 replies were too long and never went through. I may do this in 2 or more parts if it gets to lengthy again. First, have fun and always remember that your designs are unique to you! They cannot be compared to anyone else's creations. Just allow those to inspire you and expand your ideas. Second, don't be afraid to play around with items in different ways, not always using them for what they are. Take for example, the Sig Tranquil Television (it was given away as a prize last year so maybe you have one)~ this PSI is awesome to use turned around so it looks like a rock-wall with vines, animated lizards and flowers. It can be used in a variety of different rooms. Even using the backs of other items can serve as dividers or fences… just get creative and really look at things in each direction they turn and see what other ideas come to you. ;) (continuing to part 2 now ;) ).

      • TElVid128 says:

PART 2: Third, once I have a room idea, I like to go through my dock and put everything into the room that I think may help to pull off the design I am envisioning. The NEW dock section is great as it will hold your items while you move others around in the room. Just don’t forget to put anything back in the room you are not yet sure of before you log out so you don’t have to look for things all over again! ;) The next important thing is to pay attention to the balance and scale in the room. For example, you may have a great outdoor room and all the things go well together. Then let’s say you want to add in a bench. Well, that bench may look too big compared to everything else you have placed in your room and that can make things look a bit off. Make sure you have a focal point in the room as well. Sometimes an item might inspire a room design and I create around that. It’s good to have a pretty clear idea of what you want to accomplish rather than just put stuff in a room. (Continuing to part 3)…

        • TElVid128 says:

PART 3: I would also suggest that you make yourself familiar with as many WW items as you can and keep an ongoing list of things for which you would like to trade. Know where they come from and their “value”. The trading room can be very draining sometimes and very time consuming. When things stop being fun, take a break. Patience plays an important role sometimes and you will need it as you collect future items you would like to use. Eventually, your room will be perfect to your liking and that feels really good!! It took me many, many months to trade for the things I needed to make all of these Harry Potter rooms, so just know it will happen. ;) (Continuing to Pt 4)…

          • TElVid128 says:

PART 4: With all the wonderful changes that have taken place in WW, such as being able to use outside items inside and vice versa, the creative possibilities have expanded so much more, it’s wonderful!! For me, when I am decorating, I may start with an initial idea, but a room can morph many times from there. I would say allow that to happen because things always turn out better as you ride that wave of creativity, or go with that flow! ;) The last two suggestions I can think of at this moment, are 1. to make sure your room isn’t heavy to one side. That all depends on the intent of the room though, and goes back to the balance aspect of things that I mentioned earlier. And 2., I like to pay attention to the smallest details. If you are this way, too, then I think adding in whatever accents you can to support your ideas will make you that much more pleased with your creations. I hope this helps some, Sweetie, and I apologize for the delay. <3 Best wishes and happy decorating!! :D <3 ~ Autumn

I’m wondering how do you take a pic of your room i can’t figure out how! Please reply really soon.

    • TaffyKitty12 says:

Hi Rnw9kinz! On my laptop, to take a screenshot, I have to press print screen (or Prt Scrn when it is abbreviated), then I go to a program such as Microsoft paint, press paste, and my picture shows up :) Now, it might not work like this on all computers. Try to see if this works first, and if it doesn’t, I suggest maybe looking it up and maybe you’ll find directions on how to take one on your computer. I hope this helps :)

    • TElVid128 says:

Hi Rnw9kinz :) Another way to take a room shot is by using the Snipping Tool. It is in Windows accessories. It is very easy to use. Press the Windows button on your keyboard (lower left by space bar- looks like 4 squares on the key) and then you can search SNIPPING TOOL. I pin mine to my task bar so it’s easily accessible (you can right click on it and scroll down to pin it). Once you open the Snipping Tool up, under OPTIONS (looks like a sprocket), there are different boxes to check/uncheck in 2 little sections. In the APPLICATIONS section, I leave the first box unchecked, the rest checked. In the second little part for INK SELECTION, I leave that box unchecked and I have my ink color set to red. Some of the colors will show as a border around your picture, but red won’t. Once you are ready, take the picture, highlight the area you would like to use, and from there it will show you your picture so you can save it in your computer or copy and paste it in Paint. Make sure you save it as a .jpg or .jpeg in your picture files. ;) Good luck!! ~ Autumn
