Chapter 4 – The Best Laid Plans of Pigs and Hippos…

Plumpy and Wiggles stood in the town square early the next morning. It was Christmas Eve day and everyone was out and about. “Test, test,” Wiggles said into the microphone. He and Plumpy had borrowed microphones and huge speakers from Simon Singoz and they were ready to sing carols to the entire town. Plumpy cleared her throat and she and Wiggles started singing. They had just reached the chorus of their first song when Fluffington dashed over to them, holding his paws over his ears. “Stop singing!” he yelled. Plumpy and Wiggles stopped. “Thank you!” Fluffington sighed. “Your singing is way too loud – and not very good!” Fluffington stomped off. Plumpy looked around. The entire crowd stared back at her. None of them looked happy. Wiggles gulped. “Plan B?” he asked. “Plan B,” Plumpy nodded. The two friends returned the speakers, headed home and spent all afternoon making five hundred cookies.  “Everyone’s sure to love these!” Plumpy grinned. They stacked them high on a platter and headed back toward the town square. The stack of cookies was so tall that Plumpy couldn’t see where she was going. “Steady, steady,” Wiggles coached. “Now just watch the patch of” – it was too late. Just as they had reached the center of town, Plumpy’s foot slipped on a patch of ice. The cookies flew up in the air and rained down on everyone.

Oh no! Poor Plumpy! I bet her singing is just fine! That wasn’t very kind of Fluffington!
