Roberta’s Homemade Holidays – Wooden Ornament

My grandma is SO into Christmas. It’s her very favorite holiday. Each year, we visit her house and eat a TON of carrot loaf and mashed carrots and carrot cake. YUM! I wanted to make her something very special, and very Christmas-y!

What you need:

Wooden ornament, acrylic paint, paintbrush, dish of water (to rinse off your brush between colors), place to hang your ornament to dry

What you do:

  1. Decide how you want to paint your ornament. I went with a pretty simple design that I know would work well with my grandma’s tree. She LOVES green and turquoise, so I knew I had to use lots of it!
  2. Paint your ornament carefully. Take your time and make the design gorgeous!
  3. If you’re using more than one color, or doing stripes, you might want to let the first color dry before starting the second one.
  4. When your ornament is totally done, hang it up to dry.
  5. Before you give your ornament to your recipient, tie a ribbon around the top.

My grandma is going to LOVE this!

Hey you can do this with styrofoam balls! I got some from a craft store once and they already have holes on the top so you can do whatever! I think I can use my styrofoam balls for this easily! Plus they’re cheaper!

I think styrofoam is hard to paint, though. Maybe you could decorate styrofoam balls with fabric strips or ribbons –or both.
Hey, I might try that myself.
I’m so excited about Christmas this year!

I live near the sea , and this year, my 5th grade teacher told us that we could bring in our own shells 2 make handmade ornaments out of them, as a class project! Awesome!
We just put up our Christmas tree! My favorite ornament is a little wooden santa doll that my piano teacher gave me last year 4 Christmas before we moved. I miss my piano teacher so much…
What is your favorite ornament on the tree? Happy Holidays from DreamsComeTrue

my favourite ornament is a silver reindeer in a kind of ball that like a cage. it is not cruel. we have had it since i was little and that’s a long time. my mom said that she got it when she was younger, maybe that is why i like it.
