Ah I see I’m not in the minority…our favorite parts of the concept art were traded for other aesthetic decisions.

Although I love your version of the white wood bedframe and the little tree branches above the fireplace, and the view outside the window, the rest of the theme looked so much better the way qrax designed it. Qrax designed a beautiful quilt; better and more vivid colors for the candy corn deco, the green tablecloth with lanterns, the picture above the fireplace and other deco looked great and not so cluttered on the hearth. The black and white checkered/striped rugs and tablecloths and yellow sofas overwhelm everything and take away from the Halloween theme. Sorry to the Webkinz designers–usually your designs are awesome–but I’m very disappointed in how the original design was altered. :(

Very excited to get another cool set :D

Oh my goodness! I agree qrax’s design is so much better than the design teams version. This design looks like a hybrid of the old Abba Zabba candy bars and racing flags lol. I’m going to pass haha

most excited for that wall lamp!

Okay??? Why does the room design look SO MUCH different than the original drawing? Honestly, when I first saw the finished design by the Webkinz Team, I actually thought it was a “race car” theme. It looks nothing like qrax designed. I’m really disappointed in the final results. It’s not even “vintage” in style. Yellow is way too bright! The quilt on the bed looks nothing like the quilt in the original design. The windows are too small for the wall. Yes, I realize that the finished room theme was “inspired” by qrax’s original design, but…I just don’t see how it’s even the same design. To be honest, I will more than likely only by the floor and the wallpaper, which wasn’t in the original winning design theme. Qrax’s original design was soooo much better. :-(

@alucard, once AGAIN ! you have beaten me to my EXACT ! comments, about this theme. lol ” Race Car” was my first thought, at first glimpse. No, it doesn’t look like the original – same reasons; and ditto about the wallpaper / flooring. I am also very disappointed. I was looking forward to this theme very much. Finally, the theme for which I voted, won; and I don’t like the final result. As stated by players below; it was the BED and WINDOWS that got my vote. So sorry, qrax. : ( I think they did you a disservice. I would have slept in YOUR room IRL. ( spiderwebs and all ! ) lol

@noonesfriend – LOL! I guess our Cosmic brain waves collided again! :-) Ha! Thank you for being on the same wave length as I was. I am SO disappointed in this design. I feel so sad for Qrax! Qrax’s design was SOOO much better and SHOULD have been used. In my humble opinion, if they are going to use the original design so little and yet use the term “inspired by”, then why even bother to have a design contest? Sorry, Webkinz. I don’t mean to be unkind to the designer, but, this Halloween design is not what I voted for! Usually the final designs for these contests are almost spot on in the finished result. I do love the wallpaper and the flooring, and plan on getting several sets of those to use, so all is not lost here. I really really really wanted to love this design. Sadly, it seems I’m not alone in my opinion either. However, it is what it is. I am happy that there are players who love this design! I just wish the design would have been what was envisioned by Qrax. :-( Hey, noonesfriend! Have a wonderful 1st Day of Fall! The same wish goes to all Webkinz Players and Ganz/Team Webkinz! :-)

      I agree I don’t love this

    • rpcarlson says:

      Completely agree, disappointed….

    • lilaclilyofthevalley says:

I agree. I don’t think I’ll be buying anything in this ‘inspired’ design. Oh, well.

    • kaydivabear12 says:

I agree with alucard! The Webkinz design team missed the mark on recreating the winning room theme by qrax. The bedspread has a totally different pattern. The curtain on the window is not as long or full as the original design nor does it have a curtain along the top (only a curtain rod). The fireplace is missing the long thin candles on the top mantel which I believe it needs to balance the overall look of the item. I like the wallpaper and flooring but I would be happier if the Webkinz team would find it in the hearts to give their room theme items a few tweeks so that they better match qrax’s winning designs. Thanks for listening.

    Love it!!! Cant wait,THANK YOU!

  8. frogwoman09 says:

like the original submission much better. Especially the quilt. That is why i voted for this. The windows need to be bigger too.

    • bashops says:

I agree with you, frogwoman09. There is an implied Warmth to the “original concept” that seems to be missing in the “inspired by” pieces.

      • BlueMoonCat says:

I so agree about the bedding. I loved the original quilt design and the larger pumpkin bedframe. What’s up with the different designed Fireplace (so vibrate in the original) and the window not having long curtains? This is not the original design at all. Why not have used the quilt design in place of the checked tables? I also loved the coffee table and it is not in the room at all. I was SOOO excited about the new theme but honestly I can’t say that I am anymore. Sorry desigers. I know you worked so hard but it just looks too different from designer qrax.

        • kalcan8 says:

Hello all. I agree with @bashops about the “warmth” and coziness in the original concept that somehow seems to be missing in the version created by the design team. I wanted to point out for @BlueMoonCat that the coffee table is indeed in the room against the north wall. It is just so different from the original design, that you probably didn’t recognize it. I think that we all like the stylistic choices that qrax made, and weren’t ready for such a departure from their original choices.

          • kalcan8 says:

Let’s just take one piece and compare the original versus the design team’s version. Qrax’s original coffee table was a simple warm chocolatey brown wooden coffee table. There was a light green Halloween patterned table runner which didn’t detract from, but rather drew one’s attention to the centerpiece – the plastic jack-o-lantern bucket filled with candy, which is such a familiar Halloween staple in so many homes. The lanterns featuring the cute bat shapes appear to be a burnished bronze, complementing the brown of the table. The design team’s version chose white wood everywhere, possibly for continuity. The table runner is dark green and has no discernible pattern. The pumpkin centerpiece looks almost 3D and resembles a real pumpkin. The two side lanterns are made of a lighter metal (maybe pewter?) and seem to disappear in the design, rather than provide a warm accent. I think that one of the things that we are missing and hoping for are the warm cozy ecclectic vibes of Grandma’s house at halloween in the 70′s. The furniture was not matching. There were a variety of woods and textures, and most likely a braided rug on the floor somewhere. LOL! I think that qrax’s design and the title word “vintage” produced a certain image for many of us that was less mid-century modern, and more of a patchwork rocker from an antique store kind of vibe. Maybe this too long comparison will help to clarify some of the confusion and disappointment that you are seeing in the WW community.

          • BlueMoonCat says:

Thhank You kaican8! I was looking for a green table runner and missed it completely. LOL

          • noonesfriend says:

@kalcan8, re: your comment below – you nailed it ! ( I do think this looks more reminiscent of the ’50s than the ’70s, though. ) Totally agree with the rest.

  9. mypaquita says:

Can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get some storage items, both food and clothing, to go with the new themes??? PLEASEEEEEE

  10. Bellatinkerbella says:

Do we also get the super cute Vintage Halloween Party one too, as that one is adorable. The other is ok, but for me it’s too yellow, but thank you for something new either way. :)

    • pokeymon says:

You mean the Halloween Ball? Yeah, that one was so nice. This is okay at best, no offense. The quilt on the bed is nothing like in the submission.

    • kalcan8 says:

Hi @Bellatinkerbella. Just in case you really weren’t sure, the room theme shown at the top of this article IS the Ganz design team’s interpretation of the “super cute Vintage Halloween Party” contest-winning room design shown in the bottom picture. If the two designs look so different that we aren’t even able to recognize them as the same room theme, that should be saying something.
