It’s Sally Webkinz here with all your Thanksgiving news… and, most importantly, here to chat a bit about my favorite topic… FOOD!
This year, Thanksgiving is falling on Thursday, November 23. Be sure to log in to Webkinz World on the 23rd to receive your Thanksgiving Gift — logging in from mobile works, too, if you need to sneak on during dinner! This November is a bit on the quiet side — so rest up, because a busy December is up ahead!
Now, Canadian Thanksgiving was in October, but the Newz team is always up for round 2 of tasty treats! I asked them about their favorite Thanksgiving foods and traditions. Transcript below!
SALLY: So, I gotta ask… is there one food that you simply can’t miss at Thanksgiving? A “It ain’t Thanksgiving unless there’s this food” kind of food?
MANDY: Brussels sprouts, for sure.
SALLY: I.. I was not expecting that, but sure. It’s not my favorite vegetable, but I’ve learned to accept it. What about you, Stephen?
STEPHEN: TURKEY!
SALLY: Ha! Yeah, I guess that’s pretty important. Though some people have things like cornish hens, or turkduckens. What about you, Michael?
MICHAEL: It’s gotta be garlic mashed potatoes.
SALLY: Oh, that does sound good. For me, I have to have stuffing and cranberry sauce. I can eat just a plate of that and be happy. YUM! Speaking of YUM…. dessert! What’s your favorite dessert for Thanksgiving, Mandy? Is it pie?
MANDY: Actually, I like pumpkin cheesecake.
SALLY: Good choice! I love a good cheesecake, myself, and pumpkin is very Thanksgivingy. What about you, Stephen?
STEPHEN: Pumpkin pie, of course.
SALLY: Can’t go wrong with a traditional favorite. Sweet potato is pretty good, too! Hey, Michael — where does your sweet tooth lead you?
MICHAEL: We-ellll, I like blueberry pie best, to be honest.
SALLY: Ooh, nice one. Not as traditional, but still pie. Excellent. For me, I have to have a slice of apple pie… maybe with some cheddar on top… or with ice cream and whipped cream and… and… well, I think I’m getting a little distracted by all this food talk. Mandy, do you have any special traditions for Thanksgiving?
MANDY: We all like to play board games after dinner.
SALLY: That’s great fun! Stephen, anything special for Thanksgiving?
STEPHEN: The most important part of Thanksgiving for me is having dinner with my family.
MICHAEL: Yeah, me, too!
SALLY: Family is very important. I don’t get to see most of my family very often, but I’m happy to say that I’ve made some great friends who have become a second family to me! I guess my biggest Thanksgiving tradition is that I have… two Thanksgivings, sometimes three! I’ll have one Thanksgiving with my in-laws, then another with my friends… and then sometimes, I’ll celebrate American Thanksgiving in November. It’s just too long to wait until December to have a big turkey dinner!
There you have it, folks. What about you? What food can’t you do without at Thanksgiving? What’s your favorite pie or dessert? Do you have any special Thanksgiving traditions? We’d love to hear about them!
Also, what would you like me to report on next? Tell us in the comments below!
Wow! Congratulations suzanneauntie! This is the first that I’ve heard of anyone actually winning the Jellybean Challenge. I didn’t think anyone ever won that one. What was the prize you won for getting it right?
Sally is there a chance of getting the pie on the tall white dish for our rooms ?
I remember that Pumpkin Pie Platter! It was in our Thanksgiving gift basket in 2009. I would love to see it again as a prize in one of the wheels or balloon darts. :-)
Whoa, Alphaowlbear, that’s impressive! I have one in my Thanksgiving room but didn’t remember where it came from. Thanks for the reminder. :)
This was a holiday item a few years ago, so if it isn’t a prize this year, you might be able to find it in the trading room!
That one was in a Thanksgiving gift box years ago. I wish they’d re-release it. Also, with other kinds of pie on it!
Mmm, I love Thanksgiving! We like to try new things for Thanksgiving, partly because we have family that are vegetarian or have special dietary needs. But Thanksgiving isn’t the same for me without a roast turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. Maybe I should start a new tradition of celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving, too. (any excuse for pumpkin, turkey, and sweet potatoes, lol). Yum!
It was fun seeing how the Webkinz newz team celebrates Thanksgiving, and what they like!! I’m definitely with Michael and Stephen Webkinz… it’s not Thanksgcijg unless there’s mashed potatoes and turkey on the table! For dessert, my favorite is actually chocolate pie… it’s different, but delicious!
Oh, oops, I meant to say “Thanksgiving”, not “Thanksgcijg”, sorry! Must’ve been typing too fast…
i agree with you on the pie i like chocolate and peanut butter pie i dont like pumpkin pie or any fruit pie i dont know why it just doesnt taste good to me lol
Going bowling or a movie after dinner…
I am a Dec baby there is ALWAYS a new movie for me every year of my life . ENJOY !! Search DECEMBER new movies premier. Some of the greats come in Dec ! The Christmas that Almost Wasn’t , Santa Conqers the Martians and STAR WARS different shows OH have fun !!
Oh I don’t think I one specific food I think the combined combination
oops I hit reply when I went to correct a misspelled word. to pick up where I left off—-of foods The turkey, cranberries, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, green beans, corn and a dinner roll. And a little later there is 3 pies to choose from Pumpkin, pecan and impossible pie(made using soda crackers aka saltines), After we done with the dishes one of my sisters would open a very large jigsaw puzzle (no less than 5,000 pieces) that is a Christmas theme and we would start on it and try to get it done by Christmas eve. And some one would always hide a piece so they could say they put the last piece in.
The food and the desserts sounds delicious ! My favorite dessert is pumpkin roll. It has a cream cheese filling inside. Best part of the Thanksgiving dinner, is having the left overs the next day. Happy Belated Canada Thanksgiving. And Happy Thanksgiving to all on the 23rd of this month. I’m very thankful for my family, our home, food, and good health, And Webkinz.
VERY NICE room but needs a CALICO CAT in front of fireplace . Maybe a butter churn. What is the rug by the spinning wheel?

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to ALL of YOU !!
Thank you for sharing, tinygma, your post kind of made me tear up :(, my house will be crazy with dogs (real life ones) 3 (Labs) are mine and one I’m dog sitting for Thanksgiving for a friend for a few days. I love animals! Then my daughter is coming in from out of town and wants me to make ALL the good stuff. I LOVE GRAVY, I pour it allover mostly everything on my plate, LOL! Happy Thanksgiving!
My choice of desert would be pecan pie and for our traditions we decorate for christmas on thanksgiving night.
Sweet! Wee decorate the day after Thanksgiving. :)
I am Polish by heritage we celebrate a 2d Christmas Jan 5th called Little Christmas . Only 1 gift is exchanged little or big it is always something special. (GOOD time for that HARD to find gift) . BUT on CHRISTMAS 1 way to thank God for the little gifts in life . My parents always started with a gift on our beds ;) . USUALLY TOILET PAPER as a way to remind us of life , harder times and to be thankful for all our gifts. I taught all my kids this :).
Toilet paper–that’s funny. But I get it; it’s so easy to forget all our blessings. That’s a nice way to rein in the “gimme-gimmes,” lol. We don’t appreciate the little things enough until they aren’t around anymore. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone in Canada–hope your day was wonderful! :-)
Toilet paper- nice!
Fun Sally; thank you for sharing your wonderful conversation ~ ya’ll are too cute!!! I’ll just write what I wrote in one of the FB groups last week : My FAV Thanksgiving food is: Garlic WHIPPED potatoes and Rhubarb pie. We play a pretty heated Monopoly Game after dinner. After several hours we switch to Apples to Apples. Happy Thanksgiving friends!!!!
