Special Report With Sally Webkinz

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and of course my mind is on my favorite topic… food! This time, I wanted to take a look at the various heart-shaped foods that are available in Webkinz World… and there were actually fewer than I thought, considering how many Valentine-themed pets we’ve had over the years.

I think my favorite would probably be the Sweet and Sour Hearts. While I love chocolate (and that is kind of the main theme for Valentine’s Day), there’s something about sour candy that I just can’t resist.

I’ve got several heart-shaped cake pans and cookie cutters at home, so I will likely make something special for Valentine’s Day… in fact, I’m quite inspired by the Heartfelt Tuna Melt. I think I might make a heart-shaped grilled cheese sandwich with some yummy homemade tomato soup!

Which of these foods are your favorite? Do you have any special meals planned for Valentine’s Day? Tell me in the comments below!

I’ve always counted on good ol’ Snoopy for a nice little box of chocolate samples from the store, so yes, I’d come home with a stuffed animal & candies. ☺

grilled cheese and tomato soup is some of the best winter comfort food! while it’s not what immediately leaps to mind when thinking Valentine’s Day, it surely says, “I LOVE YOU”.

There are some other foods that could’ve been included, like Sweet Purple Pretzel, Sweet Blue Pretzel, Cherished Cheesecake, Blushin’ Banana Bread, and
Be Mine Cake. Those are all kind of heart-shaped, and I’m sure there are a few other ones.

Hi Sally! I’d like to try each and every one of these beautiful creations, but the one that appeals to me the most is the ‘I Love Chocolate Cake’ because the name says it all! Truth in advertising! We usually give chocolates or flowers, but now you’ve really got me thinking. We used to make these delicious heart shaped spice cookies with homemade pink icing, and everyone would devour them. But they take a while to make and life gets pretty busy sometimes. Maybe we will try them again this year. Could you please share your homemade tomato soup recipe? It sounds like pure comfort food to me!

When I was a kid, grilled cheese and tomato soup was what I thought of as ‘book food’. Something characters in books I read were often eating and seemed to really enjoy, so I really wanted to try it. My first hint I’d be horrified and revolted should have come from before I tried it since I apparently was the only child in our solar system who would not eat macaroni and cheese, another thing ‘every kid ever’ will not refuse. So yeah, I could not do that. I still can’t do that. And the soup was more disappointing, yuck. It was so not how I imagined it would be. (But I also have a lot of lifelong sensory issues with tastes and textures.) However years after that, I did discover that tomato juice has more the taste I was looking for in that soup, so I use that, with some added spices and voila, tomato soup for me!!! Those spice cookies sound like Moravian ginger cookies, Beckinz8, are they? I never decorated mine but my favorite way to eat them is dipped in whipped cream.

Grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup are what my family eats after church on Sundays. It’s warm and filling – good for chilly days. I like tomato juice too, but I need to find one that is a little less salty. I’m going to go look for that Valentine’s cookie recipe.
