Special Report – With Steve Webkinz!

Hi everyone, Steve Webkinz here. In today’s special report, I’m going to take a look at growing gardens in your yard.

For those who’ve been playing in Webkinz World for a while, you’ll know that you can find seed packets in the WShop under the Fun Stuff category.

Once you drag and drop your seeds into either an outdoor or treetop room, unlike before, you’ll no longer need to maintain them before they’re ready for harvest. After enough days have passed, you’ll see your plants are ready.

Click on them to send the grown food to your Dock. The harvested plant will return to its initial growth state and start the clock on growing again.

*Technical note: You can move Growing Garden items around a room at any time without affecting their growth timeline, but if you remove it from the room by sending it back to the Dock, it will be reset.

Plants will remain ready for harvest until you click on them and will never rot. Harvested food can either be fed to your pet or sold back to the WShop for KinzCash. Becoming a Webkinz farmer is a great way to earn lots of KinzCash!

Here is a look at the Growing Garden seeds available for KinzCash and how long they take before they’re ready to harvest!

*Technical note: Each Growing Gardens plant grows only 1 food item.

Note: Most Growing Garden seeds in the WShop available for eStore points take 7 days before they’re ready for harvest.

Have YOU been growing YOUR garden? And what would you like me to report on next? Let me know in the comments below!

Gardening is one of my favorite things to do in WW. On harvest day, I usually pick out a vehicle, get a Webkin changed into their farming clothes, and head out to the many fields I’ve got planted. Now that we don’t have to water and weed, it’s just fun, fun, and more fun! You know, speaking of growing, isn’t it about time a new plant or two was added to the W shop? Not estore…lots of seeds there. Maybe just ONE new plant type we can get from the Wshop would be really nice because there’s nothing quite like filling up a whole out door room for harvesting and most of us can’t afford to do that with estore seed. If we could get another one in the Wshop, I’d vote for grapevines personally. We have some wonderful grape themed items from the estore that are really in need of an entire FIELD of grapevines to compliment them!

Steve Webkinz thank you for sharing all of this great information in your Special Report on growing gardens in your yard. I love gardening, but I do miss pulling the weeds being able to water my plants and of course harvesting more than one crop from each plant. Will it ever be possible to harvest 1-5 crops again from each plants?

Thanks Steve Webkinz for the Special Report on growing gardens in your yard. You explained everything so well. Will we ever be able to harvest more than one crop (1-5) again as in the past? Waiting 7-12 days for the plants to mature and only receive one crop from the harvest is not much. Could you please consider switching it back as it use to be. How are the crops growing from the seeds, it no longer rains or we do not need to water?

I like that we don’t have to do anything for them to grow!

Speaking of growing seeds, Steve Webkinz, thank you for fixing the Blooming Dandelion. I was so surprised to watch it go from bloom to fluff, again. Also thank you for fixing the Gazelle’s trampoline. For a while there, the pets just stood there, trying to figure out what to do with it. It must be a massive undertaking, going piece by piece, and fixing it all so it works, not only on its own, but interacts with its environment, as well. When people say ‘it’s just pixels,’ they have no appreciation of all things to be considered. How it sits, where it sits, how it behaves, stand alone or with pets. Is it storable? Is it stackable, is it hangable, is it multi-view, is it sellable, is it character interactive with a contribution to the pet score, does it take you elsewhere in the game (like the trap door or Kinzville home). It’s not just ‘pixels’ it’s hard work to make the pixels become something people really want to have! So, thanks again, Steve!

Hi Steve! Nice report. My family and I have always enjoyed growing Webkinz gardens of quite a variety of designs and plants. Oh my, how I remember those days of seemingly endless, tedious tending! I’m not sure when that changed since a took a year or so break. I’m really glad for that because gardens are now so easy to grow and (except for strawberries) my pets like the fresh food so much better than any others. Dispenser trees and potted fruits / veggies are fun to use. The free appleseeds and unusual produce are so pretty. And, of course growing berries helps fill our berry jars faster! My question is, with the addition of beautifully detaied wallpapers and floorings that create lovely outdoor-look rooms inside, why can’t we plant gardens indoors? After all, Webkinz is an online computer game where there is no real soil, water or sunlight. I think being able to do that would be fun and would inspire new avenues of creativity!

Yes! The change in Gardening from the old way to this way is one of my Favorite changes in Webkinz World! What would I like you to report on next? When (if ever) will the TVs be repaired? I appreciate so many of the changes though – the dock and the pet search are also great changes. Thanks for everything.

Remember back when you had to care for the plants daily, or they’d die one you, and you’d have to start over?

Thanks for the report Steve Webkinz! This guide will be really helpful, because I never knew how long each plant would take. (All I knew was that tomatoes took a long time!) Since the gardening changes, I’ve noticed that cabbages, pumpkins, and watermelons are the most economical to grow. They fill your hunger meter more than the other garden foods, and they have a higher resale value. I’ve always liked to grow a variety of fruits and veggies for my Webkinz pets, but now that some of the plants that used to yield multiple fruits per harvest only yield one piece of produce during each cycle, it is getting to be more difficult to justify growing any tomatoes and strawberries. Why don’t some of the plants yield more than one fruit as they did before? I like that now the plants never rot, and you can harvest them on your own schedule. Thanks for the opportunity to grow healthy food for our pets!

Hi, Steve! I’ve been growing gardens for YEARS! I have several, so it’s easy to make a LOT of KinzCash when I sell extra produce to the WShop. I do miss tending the gardens, though. Will that feature ever return to WW? Or the multiple harvests? Those were AWESOME–I could potentially grow more food with fewer plants. It’s still pretty awesome to be able to grow my own food, though. I hardly have to buy anything from the WShop, and my pets love the farm fresh foods!
