Special Report – With Steve Webkinz!

Steve Webkinz here, reporting on some important updates to your Dock!

We recently changed the sorting of all items to an alphabetical format rather than grouping certain item types together under the same tab.

Now to help make things even more organized, we’ve begun adding sub-tabs to specific sections. Players who use the Webkinz mobile app will already be familiar with these sub-tabs, which they’ve seen when dressing their pets.

Players in Webkinz World will now also find these sub-tabs when they select the clothing tabs. We’ve also added sub-tabs to the Decorations tab of the Dock. In each of these sections, we’ve included an A-Z alphabetical option for players who want to continue seeing themed items together.

We’re planning on creating even more sub-tab sections for the Dock in the near future, so keep watching Webkinz Newz for announcements! We would also one day like to add a search feature to the Dock, however this project currently isn’t in the production pipeline, so it will still be some time before it will happen.

This has been Steve Webkinz reporting for Webkinz Newz! What would you like me to report on next? Let me know in the comments below.

This is a very useful feature so thank you for adding it! now if you can just make it so we can move and delete doors and rooms…

hi steve, obviously getting this dock thing set has been quite the ordeal, so please forgive my criticism–but i HATE the tabs–SO CLUTTERED, UGLY, clutter makes it much harder to find anything, especially in trading…why? I ask why?…. on a positive note, i DO like the alpha order–THAT makes sense to me. thanks, -k.

I respectfully disagree. I understand the alphabetizing now – it really helps when you need everything from a theme grouped together for room decorating or outfit designing. But when your pet makes a specific clothing request, (particularly a belt), the sub-tabs can make all the difference between filling the request or having the time run out, thus a happy vs. a sad pet. I used to like to dress my pets on mobile more than the .com version, because the sub tabs made it soooo much faster to select each piece of the outfit. Now I no longer have that restriction and it helps to streamline game play for me.

I, too, have to respectfully disagree. Alpha order is pointless if you don’t know the name of the item. At least with sub-tabs, it gives us a fighting chance at finding stuff. So if we know we’re looking for a specific top/shirt but don’t remember its name, we can now click on the ‘Tops’ sub-tab and only search (alphabetically) through that area instead of the whole clothing tab. I can only speak for myself when I say this has saved me LOADS of time and frustration, because I have well over 1000 different items in my clothing tab alone, and I don’t know how many thousands in my (overall) dock.

      • Beckinz8 says:

Whoa! Impressive clothing collection Elessar! The alphabetical order does work for me if I want to use all the pieces from a particular theme (like a Countryside Christmas room, or a Neo Gothic room), but when I dress a pet, I usually prefer to mix and match so theme sorting doesn’t work as well for me. And yes, when you are thinking of a particular item, but you can’t quite remember the name, it is super helpful to at least narrow it down a little with these new sub-tabs!

Thank you for the sub-tabs, this makes things a lot easier to find, you did a great job for us. Also would like to be able to move the rooms around, after so many years of playing my layout could use some reorganization.

  4. MidnightFireflies17 says:

This new feature is very helpful thank you! :)

  5. Joy_Webkinz says:

Thanks for the great report, Steve! I found the subtabs really helpful as it’s closer to how the items were organized before and I’d gotten really used to that. There are times when I wish I could search for an item (my dock is NEVER ENDING), so knowing it’ll be there in the future is awesome! Regarding what’s next in terms of rooms, ever since I was little, I’ve wanted a way to either delete or move rooms around. My first pet was a fish, so I have a handful of underwater rooms placed randomly in my house. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I do think being able to at least move rooms would help me organize my house a bit better! :)

    • Beckinz8 says:

Yes! My house has gotten a little out of control (it’s a sprawling mess!) and being able to move rooms and possibly delete doorways would be extremely helpful in trying to get better organized and have more freedom with room design.

  6. kat6401 says:

Thanks for the new updates, someday could we just move a whole complete room from one place to another….to keep our houses in order..

such a big help!personally,i didnt like the alpha thing.it was very confusing where i couldnt find any of my clothes where they used to be! im also glad for people who found it more useful than i did, there is an option for them.thx again,GANZ!!!

  8. Elessar says:

A great, big huge THANK YOU for these sub-tabs!!! The ones you’ve added have been such a tremendous help, so I’m happy to hear there are more ‘in the works’. What would I like to see you report on next? Well, in April 2016 Fiona Feathers (in response to someone’s question) gave us a scintillating bit of talk about the ability to delete and move our rooms around. Any update on this MOST WELCOME change would be greatly appreciated!! :-))

Its so great to hear from you Steve! And a big honkin THANK YOU for this new feature! I can continue to be the true hoarder that I am! Absolutely kidding of course! I especially love the clothing division; so convenient when dressing my Orca Mae who cannot wear all things in Kinzville. (yes, this is anther hint ;) ) Also, the floor/wall separation is a HUGE +++ for my 300+ room home in Kinzville. You and your team did a GREAT job with this; THANK YOU! WiN WiN for all <3
