Upcoming Changes to Google Chrome: How They Will Affect Webkinz

On September 4, Google will be releasing a new version of Chrome that will affect your experience with Webkinz.

Starting with that update, you will need to approve the use of Flash each time you load your browser. When you visit Webkinz for the first time, you will see this:

Please click Allow Flash Player. You will then see this:

Again, click Allow. You are now complete and ready to play Webkinz. As long as you do not close your browser (you keep one window/tab open) you will not have to reapprove Flash. So if you log out of Webkinz, you will be able to log back in without any issues. If you do fully close your browser, you will need to approve Flash again the next time you open it.

Currently, this change will only affect Chrome, though we do expect this change to soon be introduced to other browsers like Edge and Firefox.

As many of you have heard, Flash – the technology on which Webkinz runs – will be removed completely from browsers in 2020. As that time nears, using Flash in browsers will become more difficult. We are fully aware of the challenges that this will pose to fans of Webkinz.

We at GANZ are dedicated to ensuring that Webkinz can be enjoyed for years to come. We currently are working on multiple projects that will keep you playing and enjoying your pets, as well as take the game into the future for even more fun. While we cannot discuss the specifics of those projects at this time (they are in development and their details may change) we do hope to begin sharing details by the end of the year.

As always, thanks for being such amazing fans.

I sure hope Webkinz World will be working well into the future. I played when I was little now I like it in a different way but I really love it. I’m worried about it changing, “you playing and enjoying your pets” makes me afraid the WW we know and love will be reduced somehow. Hopefully a new technology will simply replace what flash player is to it now. I will be interested in those coming updates. *Fingers crossed*

Thank you for telling us. I do hope that in 2020 it wont effect a lot of people; because it might me. I think all my browsers rely on Flash. I hope things don’t change too much.

If Flash will close in 2020, will WEBKINZ be closed in 2020? AW already shut down, and 25% of my life is gone.

Hi Sally! It’s been a while since I’ve talked to you. Yeah, I read that, but I got a little worried when I read “As many of you have heard, Flash – the technology on which Webkinz runs – will be removed completely from browsers in 2020. As that time nears, using Flash in browsers will become more difficult. We are fully aware of the challenges that this will pose to fans of Webkinz.”, but thanks for clearing that out, Sally! You’re the best! =)

Sally, you are awesome. Thank you to the team at Ganz for trying to extend Webkinz into other browser extentions. You’re all amazing.

I ONLY have 1 request !!! AS a DELUXE player with issues going to come up. I and other DELUXE players stand to sose out on some SPECIAL REWARDS for playing. There may be times we can’t log in BECAUSE of these ISSUES. !!COULD YOU ALL PLEASE come up with a plan to make it so SPECIAL DELUXE ITEMS and boxes go DIRECTLY to our accounts so they are NOT LOST !! DON’T make us LOG IN to get these. THESE are special to us and make being Deluxe worth while . IF LOST they are lost FOREVER !! It isn’t like Daily activities are on our phone to click and get tem and there is no DELUXE WHEEL . But an AUTO STRAIT to our DOCK would take SO MUCH STRESS OFF OF US !!! PLEASE PLEASE FIND A WAY for special boxes and items LIKE the Monthly box goes in our dock move MONTHLY LOG IN ITEM for DELUXE DAY TO BEING DELIVERED THE SAME WAY – AUTO to DOCK !! THANK YOU for listening . I just thought this is so stressful and can trully be avoided in the future <3

Thanks for warning us about this. This is gonna be kind of annoying though, having to reload Flash every time… My old computer did that, and I was happy to get away from it with my new one. Oh well… Thanks for the heads up.

  8. bluecottoncandy says:

Thanks for explaining these issues beforehand. I’m glad Webkinz will still be around even after Flash is removed.

  9. nettne2 says:

I have had to do this for quite some time each time I clear my browser. not a big deal at all.

thanks for the updates…I do hope there is a fix for this as we’re not fans of playing on mobile devices. Prefer to play on our laptops or computers and hope it works out so we can for many many years.
