Update on Flash End-of-Life

 

 

 

With December 2020 approaching, we wanted to give you an update to the future of Webkinz. Back in May 2019, we released the Webkinz Desktop App, and later in the year we released the Mac version. These versions did still use the Flash Player, just without a browser.

 

We are pleased to announce that we will soon be releasing a NEW Desktop App that no longer uses Flash Player at all. This version will allow you to play Webkinz for years to come!

 

And there is no need to wait. By downloading and installing the current Desktop App, you will automatically be upgraded to the new version as soon as it is ready.

 

We at Ganz are very proud of Webkinz and have no intention of a little thing like Flash getting in the way of your fun! We will continue to support Webkinz with new items, new pets and all of your favorite events.

    I have already gotten used to using the new Desktop version and really like it. I’m so ready to go with the new platform! I am wondering though, how do we turn the Ad Blocker on and off so that I can watch movies at my cinema again. I am also wanting to see if we can still get the add prizes. I would love to get some more of the Computer Stations.

    I had been using the desktop app for some time now, but since Webkinz was closed a couple weeks ago in the morning for maintenance, I haven’t been able to use it. Every time I click on the app, it freezes the screen of my laptop. The only function I can do once this happens is to shut my laptop down. My laptop is a Dell, not a Mac, so I’m not down loading the wrong app. I want to be able to use the app once more. Could it be because the WI FI at my work place is a bit slow? What should I do? ♪♫LadyBeauty♪♫

      If your app ever stops working for you, your best bet is to delete the app and then re-download and install it again. Remember, all of your pets, items, and game progress remains saved on our servers.

        I just deleted the app and reloaded it as you suggested. My screen froze in mid-load with the Webkinz Beagle in a small rectangle in the middle of my screen. I tried this a couple weeks ago as well, with the same results. Once more I had to shut my computer down and reboot it. Any other suggestions? I’m open to suggestions. ♪♫LadyBeauty♪♫

    Will it still be full screen? That’s the only reason I haven’t been using it.

      Yes, it’s full screen. Why don’t you like it being full screen? I like it much better than doing it in the browser because it’s full screen.

        Not sure if it’s the same reason, but my issue with full screen is that I can’t minimize Webkinz. I often switch between Webkinz and Webkinz News and sometimes do some other searches etc. while playing. I’d love to be able to minimize and have access to other stuff. That’s my main reason for not really using the desktop app even though I have it.

    I downloaded the app in June. Do I have to download it again?

      It doesn’t look like it. They said that if we already have it downloaded we will automatically be upgraded. We may have to run an update but that will be about it I would think.

      I wasn’t worried, the tech team has been on top of the changes from the beginning. It’s been a long, hard, road with many sleepless hours for them, and I REALLY appreciate all that they have done for us. Not only have they been working on the technical side of the platform transition but they have managed to put out new content for us all along the way. I wish that I could send a tin of cookies or muffins to them!!!!
