Hello again Webkinz Newz readers, Ella McWoof here with a special report! From Monday June 6th (starting at 10am) – Wednesday June 8th (ending at noon) you’ll be able to vote for a new room theme that will be released in the W-Shop for KinzCash!
You’ll have 3 themes to choose from (see concept drawings below). Look over each concept drawing carefully because once the winning theme has been decided, the concept drawing will be used as inspiration for the rest of the items that will be included in the theme.
The first one you’ll have to choose from is the “It’s Fun to be Young” theme. This theme would have bright, colorful pieces of furniture that would be found in a kid’s bedroom. The walls and floors will be neutral colors but there will be specific “boy” AND “girl” themed items included in this theme:
Next is the “Outdoor Living” theme. This theme would feature pieces of furniture from an “outdoor living room” including high-end patio furniture with modern accents and colors:
Your third and final choice will be the “Hotel” theme. This theme would have bright, colorful furniture that would be found in a hotel lobby, restaurant, and hotel room. Here’s a look at the concept drawing for the Hotel Lobby Chair:

I am definitely going with the Hotel Room Theme! I voted for this theme the last time we were able to vote for a new theme. I love the chair and the colour. :-}

I really love the outdoor living theme but what do y’all mean by the sentence in the fun to be young theme “The walls and floors will be neutral colors but there will be specific “boy” AND “girl” themed items included in this theme”? Pink princess chairs for the girls and blue chairs for the boys? Is that really necessary? I have no problem with having pink and blue chairs but why specify that the pink is the girl chair and the blue is the boys chairs? Just make some colorful furniture for all genders and don’t try to label colors for certain genders.
^^^THIS! Thank you, 592400! Why can’t there just be items, and people just like what they like. Which, yes, technically it is just that, but why attach baggage to that, and risk making people feel weird or bad because you felt compelled to gender furniture or colors? We need less of that, not more. Like that awesome owl chair pictured. Now will that be a “boy” chair or a “girl” chair? See why this is a problem? Why can’t it just be an awesome owl chair, for anyone who likes awesome things?
I agree! I usually like all the blue and green stuff and I’m definitely not a boy.
That’s exactly what I was thinking, 592400! I mean, I get tired how in real life purple and pink are always said to be ‘girl’ colors. While blue, red, green, and a bunch of other colors are considered ‘boy’ colors. It’s been getting better, except in children’s shows and dog collars. (People would probably assume your dog is a girl if you put a pink collar on it is what I’m saying. XD) Boys can wear pink, and girls can be associated with colors other than pink and purple. I’ve even made some of my pink webkinz boys. -Except if the webkinz just happened to look like a girl and happened to be pink.- I glad Ganz is doing something like this again, and I thank them for it, but I just wouldn’t be voting for the young theme.
Just take it in the spirit intended and let being offended go. It wasn’t meant offensively.
A lot of things that are offensive aren’t meant to be. Nobody means to be offensive, but that doesn’t make something less offensive. That being said, I’m not outraged about the gendered furniture itself, but I just hope that they’re all in the same spirit of childish wackiness that the owl chair displays. If they’re just color swaps then I don’t care, but it’d be a real shame if only the boy ones were cartoony, and the girl ones were boring and delicate (something that happens a lot in popular culture. Girls can like goofy things too! And boring things are boring no matter how much glitter you put on it. :P)
We have sooo many things for outdoors and sooo many things for the “young”, starting with the very first things we get when we start a new account. We have never had a theme dedicated to a hotel, although I have put together a hotel room as well as a so called “lobby”. It would be nice to see something different for a change.

What a tough choice! These are all good ideas! But I think I’ll vote for the outdoor living theme….or maybe hotel? I just can’t make up my mind!
i think ill choose either the fun to be young theme or the patio theme because i really like how patio furniture looks for some reason.

I’m voting for the “Fun to be Young” theme. The current Kid’s room theme pieces could use and update… and well, my owls NEED that great concept chair!
