Webkinz Room Design Tips: Use Columns to Create a Unique Looking Room!

Hey guys, it’s Michael and I wanted to show you how one of my favorite types of decorations can really help you to create a unique looking room. I mentioned before that I love decorating with columns and I’m about to show you how they can really take a room to the next level!

I built a pretty simple looking living room using mostly items from the Condo room theme from the W-Shop. As you scroll down this post, I’ll show you screen shots of various ways to arrange the columns.

Here’s a screen shot of the living room that I built. I have not added any columns to the room yet:

Here’s a screen shot of what the room looks like with columns placed in the west, north and east corners of the room. It’s subtle, but definitely makes the room look less empty:

Don’t be afraid to add a fourth column to the south corner of the room. It does block your view of the room slightly but really corners it off nicely:

Adding four more columns along the border of the room (between the ones placed in each corner of the room) really makes this living room look like a fancy room that would be seen in a mansion:

Now I’ve taken the three columns that were featured in the west, north and east corners of the room and moved them closer to the middle of the room. It really draws attention to the center of the room:

Here’s what the living room looks like when 4 columns are placed in the center of the room. It really makes the center of the room look like a cozy place to hang out:

Try using columns to “frame” an item by adding one to either side of a piece of furniture. The columns in this screen shot really draw your eyes to the TV:

You can use the same technique by framing an item that was placed along the boarder of the wall. This really adds an elegant touch to the left wall in the following screen shot:

Want to even things out? Try framing an item on the opposite wall as well:

I used the Ancient Ionic Columns to decorate my living room. They are Rare items that are ONLY available from the Curio Shop. I also love decorating with the Medieval Stone Column, also available in the Curio Shop.

The Enchanted Train Station Pillar is another option if you wanted to use columns to really create a unique layout for your room. Even though it’s part of the Enchanted Train Station theme from the W-Shop, you can use this stone pillar to add a lofty feel to any room of your house:

What is your favorite type of column to decorate with? Which living room layout do you like the best? Do you have any design tips of you own? Please leave your comments below…

I don’t really care for the pillars, it is kinda mixing modern and classical styles together, maybe if a more modern, sleek pillar was used, but overall a great idea to use pillars.

I have used columns to make a large room look like two rooms. Space the columns about 4 or 5 spaces apart as a walk-through in the center of a room as a space between two rooms, place living room furniture on one side and dining room furniture on the other side. You can make two bedrooms or kitchen and dining room, etc. I have used the train station columns as back porch columns. Porch furniture on one side and pool, flowers, trees, etc, on the other. The short pedestals can also be used.

I’ve used these columns in an underwater room and they look really cool there, like it’s part of a sunken city.

Wonderful design tip with the use of Columns. Thank you so much Michael. Love the Enchanted Train Station Pillar — try it with a variety of stone floors — and love it best in an outside room with train tracks. Looks great with just train tracks, lots of trees and the big Northern Statue, or a couple together look like Stone Giants.
