WINNER ANNOUNCED!!!

First of all – thank you again to everyone who entered our 2017 Pet Design Contest. We can’t say enough how difficult it has been to choose a winner. There were almost 900 amazing entries which we narrowed down to a list of ten wonderful finalists. We read your comments and we discussed it among our team.

We decided to go with a unique pet based on a real animal that we think will make a great addition to the Webkinz family. The adorable Axolotl by Taydarsauce is our winning design and will be available in the eStore starting on Webkinz Day 2017.

Congratulations to Taydarsauce who will receive a Pet Design Trophy, 1 Year of Deluxe, and a code for the Axolotl when it becomes available.

And congratulations to our 9 runners up and 1 honorable mention who will each receive 1 month of Deluxe. Look for a message at the email associated with your GanzWorld account by end of day tomorrow.

Please join us in congratulating Taydarsauce! And do you have suggestions for a PSI and PSF for the Axolotl? Taydarsauce made some suggestions that we will take into consideration but we would love to hear your ideas too. Let us know in the comments below.

Congratulations to Taydarsauce! :D I loved your axolotl design!!! :) Can’t wait to see it in webkinz world! And to everyone else who was a finalist (and to my friend Pokekinz), your designs were amazing as well, and you all definitely deserved to be in the top 10!! Hopefully they can make some pets based on your designs someday :)

Congratulations to Taydarsauce for winning the contest!!! Your axolotl is so awesome!! :D (I have no idea how to pronounce ‘axolotl’ by the way. :P) Can’t wait to see it when it’s released in the estore! Also, congrats to the nine runner ups as well! Even though you didn’t win, your designs were amazing as well, and I wish they all could’ve been turned into real Webkinz pets. Great job, everyone! :D

    • TaffyKitty12 says:

Hey ilovemoonie! Hm.. I’m not sure how it’s exactly supposed to be pronounced, but I pronounce it: (ax-oh-lot-uhl) (I could be wrong, though, since I tend to pronounce certain things wrong, heheh..)

  5. golubm says:

Congratulations Taydarsauce! As I allready stated, despite of being between the finalists I found that the Axolotl was the one who deserved to win and was the cutest. I hope to be able to purchase him when it would be aviable. I would name mine Toothless :) Also congrats again to my ”finalists mates”, hope to see their creations on future contests as well ;)

OH I LOVE THIS PET !! AWESOME but I feel WEBKINZ would be BETTER SERVED by picking 4 different winners. 1 FOR EACH element Land , Earth Fire and Water . This would let 4 be released during the year helping WEBKINZ and 4 different kids ;) !!!

    • tinygma says:

Kind of reminds me of a sea monkey , So maybe a PINK FAIRY ARMADILLO next time they are pink and 6 inch long with a little pink fuzzy belly. Lokks like a real MINI Armadillo Mexican. There is also a golden breed but its more like a lizard It has a spike shell . But funny thing it bites its tail and can roll away for protection South African .

you guys should make the psi and psf that they designed

  8. Pokekinz says:

Congrats Taydarsauce! (*^▽^)/・゚✧ Heh, I only wish I could get the pet myself. Anyhoo, I really like Taydarsauce’s ideas for the PSI and PSF, especially the Gummy Guppies (and the idea of the dish being a shell).

  9. greenmagic77 says:

congrats im so happy for you. :D

  10. poofmon says:

Congratulations, Taydarsauce! I can’t wait to buy this awesome little guy for my best friend. My friend is planning to name him Auggie. ;D (I only wish this pet could have a plush release as well. There is a serious lack of axolotl toys and merchandise in the world!) Many congratulatory wishes again to Taydarsauce, Pokekinz, ECF, hazzy, bullseyejingles444, golubm, autumn88, giantturtle, duncannut08, and worldcombiner! And thank you Webkinz for holding this contest that allowed such a wide range of pet design diversity. I enjoyed seeing the unique creations in the share center, and I hope that many of the pet ideas there with get a chance to live in WW the future. I had a blast working on my entry, and I hope others enjoyed creating their pets as much as I did!

    • Pokekinz says:

Thanks Poofmon! To be honest, I actually thought your design was gonna win. It had a lot of supporters in the comments, and it’s really well designed. Still, congrats on being a finalist. ^^ I hope Ganz will consider making the finalists into pets in the future… Even if I don’t get a prize for it, I’d still like to see a HIppocampus in Webkinz World. XD

      • Beckinz8 says:

Congrats to Taydarsauce for your truly unique design! I hope that they keep your ideas for the PSI, and PSF. I also really hope that someday Ganz will make an exact copy of the hippocampus design in plush form. I’ll be waiting (impatiently) to adopt it!

      • poofmon says:

Nahhh.. Pokekinz, I never thought the Orchid Mantis would win first prize. I was completely happy just getting on the short list and being able to read the sweet comments left about my design. Bugs are still pretty niche in WW, so learning that so many people want to welcome the creepy crawly critters into their Webkinz family was wonderful. And as awesome as being a finalist is, for me, the best part of this contest, was creating the entry and seeing just how well I could realize a mantis for Webkinz World. :-D (And if a Hippocampus ever does make to WW I’m certainly going to adopt it for myself.. and probably name it Daniel after the carver the carousel Hippocamp I was so found of. )

        • Beckinz8 says:

poofman~ you designed an amazing Orchid Mantis! I don’t know if you read my initial comments on 2/3 when the 10 finalists were first posted, but there was a mantis that looked just like that on a mum in our garden last fall. (although that one was slightly more intimidating than yours!) I took lots of pictures, but it blends in amazingly well with the plant. I would buy your mantis plushie in an instant just because it would remind me of that cool experience. (And I am definitely not a bug person!) Keep designing and hopefully there will be new plushies from Ganz designed by you in the near future! ~kalcan8 :)

      • poofmon says:

Oh yeah, Pokekinz, I keep forgetting… *high-fives for fellow FireAlpaca users* I love that program. Glad to see others here enjoying it for their art-ing endevors. :-D

        • Pokekinz says:

Well, I certainly thought it had a good chance, even before it was a finalist (it really caught my eye in the Share Center). I’m glad it got to be a finalist, because you totally deserved it for that design. :D Heh, I have no idea what I’d name a Webkinz Hippocampus… And I designed one. :P I keep thinking “Kelp”, but I dunno. I’ve heard of “Kelpies”, and “Kelpie” sounds kinda cool as a name, but I’m pretty sure it’s shape-shifting water spirit that’s evil or something. And also a dog breed. And yessss *high-fives* I love FireAlpaca! I’m still sorta getting used to it, but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. It’s really good for a free art program, I think. The only catch (if you can call it a catch), I’d say, is the pop-up ad whenever you load the program. But I can quickly close it, and they’re always for Medibang or something FireAlpaca related, and no video ads. So for me, it’s totally worth it (and you won’t catch me paying fifty bucks for Paint Tool Sai XD). FireAlpaca ought to be more popular. Do people just not like free things? :P Luckily I still found some good tutorials for stuff I was having trouble figuring out. Also, this is a lot longer than I intended it to be.
