First of all – thank you again to everyone who entered our 2017 Pet Design Contest. We can’t say enough how difficult it has been to choose a winner. There were almost 900 amazing entries which we narrowed down to a list of ten wonderful finalists. We read your comments and we discussed it among our team.
We decided to go with a unique pet based on a real animal that we think will make a great addition to the Webkinz family. The adorable Axolotl by Taydarsauce is our winning design and will be available in the eStore starting on Webkinz Day 2017.

Ah, well thanks Emi. I was hoping for that too, heheh. XD Still, I do like the Axolotl, and I thought for a while that Webkinz should have one. Too bad it’s not a plush, though; I’d like a plush Axolotl.
Hehe, I just really had it stuck in my mind that you would win. xD I was really almost expecting it, so it was a bit disappointing.. But yeah, I agree, the Axolotl is very original and new, so I can still be happy with the result. =P
I was actually expecting the Orchid Mantis to win. :P I guess I was sorta surprised, but I was still a little disappointed (I mean, that I didn’t win. I wasn’t expecting to win, but I still wanted to win XD).

I want to say congratulations to Taydarsauce. But I must say, and while I am happy for whoever the winner is, and I don’t mean to follow it up in a negative light, I don’t think that Ganz made the right choice. It’s cute, but it’s all pink, and it honestly is kind of random. I thought that we’d have a winner that was just a bit more intriguing. I am so sorry if I am being a raincloud. It’s a cool design…I just think that Ganz should shoot for the stars a bit more the next time we have a contest like this.
It’s all pink because this axolotl is based off of the leucistic variety. Axolotls come in many colors, but the leucistic pallet is often a favorite for axolotl owners and breeders. I appreciate all the designs of all of the finalists, especially that Farm Fresh Egg! But I’m certainly not complaining about winning, either. ;)
Thanks for explaining. Again, I’m sorry if I sound rude, I just had Pokekinz’s and Autumn’s submissions in my mind for the winners. But, instead of complaining, I am taking a look at your pet, and you know, it’s pretty neat. I had no idea it was a real animal (:O) but it’s actually really cool that you thought of that! So I apologize if maybe I spoke my mind in the wrong way. I hope the design team turns your awesome winning submission into an incredible Webkinz pet! Again, congratulations on your win…you should feel very proud and excited! :)

I think greenmagic17 means the drawing they did is just a doodle, and doesn’t look a lot like the actual finalists’ designs. See, below they posted “you guys should look it up its a really cute animal this pet looks just like the real one. I really want to buy this pet. btw i made a drawing of all of the top 10 pets all together on fan art at the share center”, and I guess they just didn’t reply to their original post.
