Crafty Critterz: Webkinz Game
Submitted by: mcf with Coco It is a race to see who finishes first on the Webkinz path with obstacles and Webkinz chance cards along the way! What you need: Images of the animals from Webkinz News White sticker labels Markers Bristol board Scissors Webkinz Figurines Single Dice What you do: 1. Use the images of the animals from Webkinz Newz to create Webkinz stickers. We had precut stickers so they are fairly large which resulted in a fairly large game board but you could use smaller ones to create your path. You could even cut and paste the pictures onto the game board instead of stickers. 2. For fun, you can lay out the Webkinz in order of release date along the path so everyone could see the first plush Webkinz to the last. 3. Draw on the staircases with marker. This is really the best part of the game! You must go up or down the staircase if you land on tile at the start or finish of the staircase. 4. The Webkinz cards also add lots of fun to the game, especially when played on Webkinz Day, why some … Read more

Halloween Room Makeover: Making a Haunted House
Hey there, it’s me, Elwin. You guys know how much Hailey and I LOVE decorating rooms, right? So as you can probably guess, Halloween is one of our favorite times of year. We can really let loose and go crazy with the decorations. And every year, our dad lets us transform his study into a wild haunted house, where we take trick or treating ‘Kinz on a terrifying tour of our spooky space! Here is what our dad’s study usually looks like: Pretty nice, huh? This classic room is the perfect starting point for our deathly den with its Wizard Wallpaper and Flooring. All we had to do was move out some of our dad’s more modern pieces and then bring in some of the awesomely awful Halloween decorations we’ve collected over the years. And here is the end result, Webkinz fans! It’s just boo-tiful, if I do say so myself! We used some of the pieces my dad already had in there, but then threw in a whole collection of frightening furnishings. Two Creepy Candelabras and a Webkinz Mannequin welcome the … Read more
The ‘Kinz go on a Hayride
It’s Salley Cat. We just had the most awesome afternoon at school. We went for a field trip out to the farm where Sparky’s Uncle Arte took us for a hay ride. It was a perfect day. The sun was shining and it wasn’t too cold. We all piled onto the back of this big wooden wagon made of planks. We sat on the benches along the side of the wagon and Arte gave us these warm, fleecy plaid blankets to cover our legs with. Then he climbed onto the tractor in front and we were off! We went along this winding path along the side of a huge pumpkin patch. I didn’t know there were so many different types of pumpkins. There are these white pumpkins and these weird warty pumpkins with funny bumps all over them. The hay cart shuddered and shook the whole time. I was kind of scared it was going to fall apart but Ms. Cowoline said it was designed to absorb all the bumps in the pathway. We followed this dirt path all the way along the side of the pumpkin patch until we reached … Read more

Ms. Cowoline’s Announcement about the Halloween Parade
AN IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MS. COWOLINE ABOUT THE HALLOWEEN PARADE Well, children, it has come to my attention that the School Council has created a petition to protest the cancelling of this year’s Halloween Parade. Please be assured that it was never my intention to take the fun out of Halloween. I just felt that with all the effort we put into the play last month, we could make up some missed work by focusing our efforts on our studies rather than taking the time off for a parade. But I have to agree with winpanda that a 12 page petition is very impressive (and may I add that I DO like your new sig!) It’s been very informative to read some of the comments. You have all raised some excellent issues. I thought Gardengal made a great point when they said, “I think they should have the parade. It sounds like a school tradition & it’s very unfair to break a school tradition.” MDIChickadee had some good ideas and pointed out that traditions like the Halloween Parade are good for the school community. “Dear Ms. Cowoline, The Halloween Parade really brings us together as a community. May we have … Read more

Nibbles Sees a Ghost!
By Salley Cat We had a bit of a mystery on our hands today, readers. Nibbles came running into school absolutely freaking out. When she was walking to school this morning she swore she saw a ghost in the trees near her house. She was shaking like a leaf. She said she couldn’t go home after school – she just couldn’t. I knew that there had to be some logical explanation. It is close to Halloween after all so I thought maybe what she thought was a real ghost was actually just somebody’s decorations. But Nibbles insisted that the ghost was flying through the trees! Freaky, huh? After school she was so scared about walking home I said I’d walk with her and we’d figure this thing out. Our walk home was completely uneventful. That is, until we got to the trees by her house. She was still really shaky when all of a sudden, she screamed and pointed. I turned to look at what she was pointing at and there it was. I saw it too! Through the trees a wispy white figure swayed back and forth. Nibbles didn’t have to tell me twice – we were … Read more
