Choose Your Own Story – Booger Goes in the Lab

Booger moved forward and pushed open the door of the lab. The hinges creaked so loudly, Booger was sure that all of Kinzville had heard it. He stood silently for a moment to make sure no one was coming, then he stepped into the room. He was alone in Goober’s lab.

Booger looked around with the eagerness of a kid in a candy shop. Everywhere he turned he could see vials and beakers full of colorful liquids – some bubbling, some steaming, some ominously still. There were gadgets and gears strewn across tables, and a variety of odd looking contraptions scattered randomly around the room.

Booger stepped over to Goober’s tool kit and was about to open it when something caught his eye. In a dark corner of the room, half hidden behind scientific equipment stood a large structure covered by a huge white sheet. Booger walked over to the object and pull off the sheet. His jaw dropped. Under the sheet was a strange looking machine. There was a lid on top and the words ‘Time Machine’ appeared in faded letters. Then Booger noticed something else – further down, by the handle, the lid was taped shut and a piece of paper with the words ‘Out of order – DO NOT ENTER’ written across it in a messy scrawl was stuck to the door.

“Wow!” Booger said quietly to himself. He knew he should put the sheet back and leave the machine as he found it, but something inside him was telling him not to. He started thinking about it and realized that if he were to travel far enough into the future, maybe he could get his hands on a rocket ship and make that trip to the moon.

Booger was just about to step inside the Time Machine when a glint from outside caught his eye. What WAS that odd shaped piece of metal poking out of the dirt in his backyard? Booger paused. He really wanted to try out the Time Machine, but that thing in the garden had a very strange, other-worldly look to it – almost an alien appearance. Booger was intrigued.
