I know you have said before that these are judged by a panel of judges, but just out of curiosity, what are the judges looking for? Like, what do they generally judge based on? Creativity? Grammar? Whether or not it followed the prompt? Thanks (: Just curious.
Definitely if the prompt is followed when one is provided. Then creativity. Grammar does factor into it, but a typo here and there isn’t a deal breaker.

I wasn’t going to enter because I don’t really have the time, but I couldn’t resist! I wrote mine while I was waiting for math class, haha. I ended up being 1000 characters over the 1000 character max, though. Cutting back is the worst because you lose so many of the important details… and some of the original meaning of the story! Nonetheless, these contests are a great way to have fun and have chance at getting a cute pet (: I hope I win, although I’m not very lucky xD Good luck to everyone, though!
