What you need
* Large piece of white paper (scrapbook size is good)
* Cool cup of strong tea
* Paintbrush
* Permanent marker
* Cookie sheet
What you do:
1. Draw your map on the page using your permanent marker. Black is the best color to choose. Make sure to write cool adventurous places on your map, and add really neat landmarks (like mountains, big trees, buildings and rivers).
2. Scrunch your map up into a ball, then smooth it back out.
3. Pour your cool tea into a cookie sheet.
4. Add your paper to the cookie sheet, making sure to submerge it.
5. Take your paper out after several minutes.
6. Let your paper dry in the sun, or use a hair dryer.
7. For extra ruggedness, feel free to rip the corners off your paper, or rip the sides before you start drawing.
For extra fun, make your map lead to something awesome – like an actual treasure!
its cool but coffee? why not hot choclate that would be cool
ICE WOLF – :) You can also pour tea on a white cloth, and it will stain the cloth brown and make it look antiqued. It can be a white tee or an old rag. the more times you pour the tea on it the darker it will be.
That is a nice map! It’s a shame you spilled tea on it…
I like Polar Berry’s idea, to make holes and crinkle it so that it looks old. If you do that, it would be cool to make the edges darker, and make some parts more faded out by wetting it down a bit after you’ve drawn everything, then it would look really old, like it had been through years of use in the rain and snow and sleet and bright sun. I don’t know if I’ll try this sometime or not, but it would be neat to try. ~*~O~*~SapphireSea~*~
This really is a great project! I once did this for German homework. My German teacher loved my map! And everyone elses tea-stained maps too. Though my map smelled like peaches because my mom let me use peach scented tea. Coffee also works from what other teachers have said. Also, to make it look really old you can use your fingers to make holes while it is still wet. After it dries, crinkle it up in your hands. Enjoy!

I know someone who does this all the time! It can make things look REALLY COOL! :D

I kinda like this idea! It is very interesting, but I don’t have any REAL treasure, or for that matter, I don’t have ANY kind of treasure at all!!! Maybe I could make a map, leading to another map, leading to one MORE map, finally leading to treasure, like National Treasure!!!!!!! This will be REALLY fun!!! I can’t WAIT to try it!!!!!!! ~IceWolf* = )
Yeah, that’s cool, if you’ve got strong paper. But will definitely try, if mom lets me. That’s the only con of it.
Awesomeazable! :mrgreen:

Cool! :D It looks sweet, I want to make it! *Luv from LillyLuvie*
I did that with birthday invitations. But instead of flame… I used something else… :shock:
Wait, wait, why not coffee? Some black coffee makes it look burnt, without the danger of flame. Like my other post. :shock:
i just did it! I’m waiting for my sister come and clean the attic. When she does she’ll find it and run all around our neighborhood! then I put some fake jewels in there that look really real. She’ll be SO surprised!!
