I’ve had a lot of requests about how to create a sensational garden while still watching your cents.
Not to worry, Webkinz fans. You don’t have to be Fluffington St. Bernard to enjoy a stunning outdoor space.
I thought I’d show you a backyard I recently completed on a very tight budget to demonstrate how sometimes less really can be more. This backyard is an excellent example of how simplicity and symmetry can create a true wow factor.
Even though I only had $3000 to work with, I decided to use almost half my budget to make an eye-catching focal point by circling a colorful geranium bush with a rustic flagstone path. An attractive but inexpensive bench sits between two elegant urns at the end of the yard, and I used repetition to enhance the simplicity by placing two basic wood benches on either side of the yard. A reasonably priced tree and some inexpensive fencing was all I needed to complete my minimalist look.
The end result? A restful, calming space in which the impact comes from what’s NOT there. And so do the savings!

I like the simplicity, but its so…empty. The outdoors need to come alive and draw your eye.

It is EMPTY. The impact certainly does come from what’s NOT there, but not in the way you mean, wiggles. It might be ok if they had medium or small sized backyards, but that space is too big for that little amount. No offense anyone, but it really looks like a room BEFORE being made over.
