Blue Springtime Chick Contest Winners

Congratulations to Lydia, Alina, Sophey, Amber and Laura! They’ve each been sent a Secret Code for a Blue Springtime Chick. We wanted to know how the Blue Springtime Chick became blue! Read the winning entries below:

The Blue Springtime Chick became blue because….. It was a foggy night at the Kettle Fields Farm and a large mother chicken had laid an egg. The egg was a medium sized egg. The farmer thought the egg looked like a store bought egg so he sent it to the local grocery store. A few hours later… Little boy Jimmy was looking for eggs to decorate for Easter. He came across a dozen of eggs. He thought that was how much he needed so he bought the carton. Little did he know, on Easter he was going to be in for a surprise. On Easter morning an egg that was painted blue was cracked open. He looked in his Easter basket and the blue chick was inside. His dad and the animal rescue center told the farmer to look more carefully around the chicken coop. And Jimmy got to keep his chick and they all lived happily ever after. – Lydia

Once upon a time, the Blue Springtime Chick was yellow, just like any other chick in the Magical Forest. At that time, each chick had a fairy guardian. The Blue Springtime Chick’s guardian just happened to be Alyssa! Not only was he yellow, but he was also the smallest chick that Alyssa had ever seen in the Magical Forest. One day, the little Springtime Chick had a dream. He was soaring above the forest like an eagle, above all of the chicks that had teased him. The strange thing was, his feathers were blue! Suddenly, Alyssa appeared in his dream. “Would you like to be different? Would you like to be special?” she asked. “Yes, please!” exclaimed the chick. “Then wake up, little one,” said Alyssa. When the Springtime Chick woke up, he realized that his soft, fuzzy feathers were blue! His wish had came true. He was different. -Alina

Long ago, there was a little yellow chick named Suzie. Suzie LOVED the outdoors. She had her whole life. One clear, beautiful day, Suzie decided to take a walk in the meadow. When she got there, she was very tired from her long journey. So she lay down, gazed up at the clear blue sky, and fell asleep. Hours later, when she woke up, the sky had turned her blue! She loved her new color because it made her unique. She also loved it because it reminded her of the sky. That’s how the springtime chick turned blue! -Sophey

“Molly! I got you some Easter eggs to color!” yelled Molly’s mother. “Okay, coming!” answered Molly excitedly. She colored the first egg blue, the second egg purple, and the third egg yellow. “Molly, since you’re finished, will you go pick some flowers for me, please?” asked Molly’s mother. “Okay mommy!” she smiled. Molly grabbed her eggs — she was reluctant to leave them behind. When she arrived at the flower patch, she set down her eggs and started to look for some pretty flowers. She found two tulips, two orchids, and a dandelion. When she turned around to go home, her eggs were gone! She looked and looked, but they were nowhere to be found! After several hours of searching, it was too dark to see and Molly had to go home. Days passed, and finally Easter arrived. “Molly, wake up, the Easter Bunny came!” Molly’s mom said as she shook her awake. Molly ran down the stairs. In her egg-less basket the Easter Bunny had left her a blue, purple, and yellow chick! That was where the eggs went! - Amber

Bright and early one Easter morning the little white chick named Lulu got up and started coloring Easter eggs. Her most favorite color is blue so she colored all her eggs that color. It was almost time to clean up and make breakfast so she started to hurry. Reaching for another egg she knocked the blue dye and it went all over her. She kept trying to wash it off , but it never came off! She was colored blue for life! At least blue is her favorite color! How her beak and feet be came pink, well that’s a whole another story……… -Laura
