Decorating on a Budget: The Ultimate Wardrobe Room

Wiggles Pig here with even more budget decorating tips. Today I’m going to talk about how to create a fabulous wardrobe room without losing your shirt.

I recently completed this dreamy blue closet for one of my clients. My client wanted a room where he could keep his clothing neat and tidy with enough space to get ready and make sure he’s neat and tidy too!

With limited funds I had to choose my pieces wisely. At first I considered doing without a wardrobe, but decided that a place to neatly hang one’s clothing is a must for any self respecting clotheshorse. At $500, the Wild West Wardrobe offered all the space my client would need and the warm wood tones would work in almost any décor.

With one more large purchase under my belt – the Blustery Day Vanity for $400 – I had my two key pieces and now I had a color scheme, a cheerful periwinkle blue.  I rounded out my blue theme with the Sky High Dresser and Cloud Chair (a bargain at $65) and tied it together with the Funky Girl Wallpaper.

At only $60, the beach flooring is a smart choice to brighten up a small space. To make sure my client has plenty of storage, I grabbed the Rattan Toy Box for $100. Its neutral tones work anywhere.  Finally, the Wooden Room Divider makes an ideal dressing screen to protect my client’s modesty and coordinate with the warm, natural textures of the wardrobe and toy box.

We ended up with a Wardrobe Room that was oozing style. And since we spent less than $2000, now my client can hit the KinzStyle Outlet and soon be stylin’ himself!

how many pieces of clothing does it hold . I think the blue dresser is decoration only and the small one only holds 1 item so not very good closet –NO STORAGE. Really need to make a really good walk-in. so would like ideas THANX

I have to agree. That theme just plain out sucks. IT doesn’t even match.

I’m sorry, but that room doesn’t go AT ALL! The furniture of a room should be of the same category or at least the same color. Plus the room is too cramped. A medium sized room works well.

Eh, it’s ok. Not my style and I never put things in boxes and cabinets or else you forget that they are in there.

don’t like sorry, but to cramped + expensive!!!!

I designed my walk in closet rooms using the narrow chests that hold 6 items each. The large ones hold 8 but I can fit 2 narrow chests in the same space as one large and thus store 12 items. I did one walkin closet in a light pink wall paint and a light wood floor for my girl pets using the vanilla colored chests lined up in rows across the room. The boy’s got a blue room with cloud wallpaper and a light floor with the blue and white striped chests.
Then I organized them by dresses or suits, tops, pants or skirts, hats and extras like glasses, face paints and so on.

Sounds like you’ve created a couple of winning rooms! Maybe Wiggles will get some great ideas after he reads your comment. Thanks for sharing!!

I have to say in all honesty, Wiggles Pig cannot decorate at all. There are so many pretty things to buy that cost the same as what he put together that would match better. This is an ugly room. Sorry to have to be so honest.

I don’t like it really. I wish it had more spunk and a better color scheme.

I never say negative things, but I just do not like this. I also did my wardrobe room on a budet, however mine has more of a smooth color scheme…Sorry

Well, I like the idea of the Funky Girl wallpaper paired with the sky theme (the vanity, chair, and dresser shown in the picture) the blues are quite cheerful actually! But the brown dressers and screen? Not my thing. With my wardrobe room, I went with a cheerful pink and paired it with the ribbons and bows theme from the Wshop. I used the funky girl divider and a pink orchid to add some brightness. For contrast I used a hibiscus tree for a pop of green. I also added a funky girl vanity to make it a suitable place to dress up for fun.

My room was more of a fashion design studio! I did it with the exposed brick wall and my splurge was a huge light pink armchair! I used cream dressers and pink accents. I also put in a big dance recital mirror for modeling your fashions! I would love to have Wiggle’s job because I have a great eye for color schemes and I am a fashion designer so… I would be totally perfect! P.S. my name is pronounced two tulips! so cute!

I don’t really like this closet. I agree, with loue354, I like it more matching. Add me as a friend I’m natmarmar.

I know it just doesn’t match well and 2000 dollars is a lot and he says it isn’t and please! I mean I could buy much better stuff than that for that amount of money!!! You know like good actually matching stuff!!!!!

    • Sydney says:

It looks VERY bad, no offense to Hailey. I love your designs and I’ve used most of them. It’s just that it doesn’t work together. You shouldn’t have done that as a design.
