Decorating on Budget: Living Room

Wiggles Pig here. I was recently approached by some clients who wanted me to create a living room that was high on style but low on cost.

I always tell my clients that a great way to start decorating a room when they’re watching their KinzCash is by starting small. A living room doesn’t have to be huge. A smaller room means they won’t have to purchase as many items, and the end result can be quite cozy.

The first thing I like to do is check out the sale items in the W-Shop. There are a lot of great deals to be had. I found this tasteful blue and white striped couch that was the inspiration for my clients’ living room. I wanted to find another color that would complement the blue and when I discovered these Electric Green Chairs for only $120 each I knew my search was over. Blue and green is a classic combination.

The wood floors in the W-Shop are always a great deal, and with our light blue and bright green the Golden Wood floor added to the fresh, breezy look I was after. The muted shades of the Pastel Green Wallpaper tied my color scheme together – for just $90. A Wicker Chair paired with a Leafy Side Table (there’s that green again!) and an Accordion Shade Lamp make an ideal reading nook for my clients.

And remember that blue and white couch I started with? Well, I finished off the space by picking up the white with accents like the Creamy Vanilla Side Table and Flowered Room Divider.

A simple Half Tatami mat, and a few plants later, I have a simple, comfortable living room in soft, airy tones that will have my clients chillin’.

And all for less than $2000 – now that’s super!

I made this room! But I did make some changes. I added an orange tree, substituted the chairs (I used some pastel green chairs with light blue cushions instead of the bright green ones) and I used open istead of closed windows.
