Elwin’s Second Concert

Okay, Hailey. Thought I’d take a quick moment to drop you a line because right now I am FREAKING OUT! It’s my second concert and I’m waiting backstage right now. This is a much bigger venue than my first concert, and it’s completely sold out. There are so many fans out there – I don’t know if I can do this!

I mean – remember how I forgot some of the words when I saw the crowd the other night? Well, how am I going to remember a single thing tonight? What was I thinking, Hailey? I’m just a simple designer from Kinzville who auditioned for a TV show on a lark. I didn’t sign on for this craziness! I am WAY out of my depth here!

I better go. Here comes Dacey. Maybe she can give me some advice about stage fright.

Oh, Hailey. Wish me luck. I’m really gonna need it!

I remember an interview with a big singer who said she would get stage fright so bad before every concert she would throw up but decided her love of singing was bigger than her fear- it didn’t make her fear go away but she could sing. So figure out which is bigger, if it is the love of singing just inhale deep and keep singing, if it is the fear then maybe it is time to quit but I think love always conquers fear…

it’s OK Elwin! You CAN do this! I get nervous about things all the time. I know how you feel, and it can be really hard sometimes. >>cathouse2

Elwin, Breath in and then out slowly, go over the words in your head, and just as Skiddly said imagine everyone is in there underwear or imagine nobody is there at all. Stare at the back wall so you do not see anybody. It really works! Oh and Elwin after a little bit it will be a piece of cake!

  5. Skiddly says:

Oh, Elwin, HOW do you do that? I could never sing in front of anyone. I’m thinking of taking vocals in high school to see if I can overcome my fear. You’re talented Elwin – you can do it! As my teachers always say, pretend everyone is in their underwear! It might help! :D

Just like Mistyfoot said breathe in breathe out. It’s the best thing to calm you down besides a spa.

Hey guys, sorry I havn’t been on. School is so crazy. For the first week, 7th grade teachers give a TON of homework. :( But it’s awesome. :D My uncle said this exact same thing when he had his first concert. But as Mistyfoot said, breath in and out. Have confidence. If you say you’ll susceed, you will. -Moonstar◙◙◙

          • Mistyfoot says:

@ Moonstar, that’s okay, I thought seventh grade was a breeze, know that I am in eighth grade at an advanced school, I won’t have the same luck. I start school on the 15th. This will be my first year at my advanced university Wish me Luck :) : ) :) :) :) :) ~*Mistyfoot*~ PS @ nihao9 I have done dancing solo’s, singing solo’s, and acting solo’s before too :) :) @ Time Bandit, I really don’t like my violin solos either. I will have to do one every moth at my new school :( :( : (: (

It will be okay Elwin, i remember my first time doing speech. i was so nervious but when i finished i felt so confident i made it to the finals!!!! hey @nihao9 can we play together sometime???? i think your really awesome!!!! how long have youve been in gymnastics???. i love doing flips but i want to go in this dance class but my parents wont let me. do any of you have any ideas??? thanks for being my friend @nihao9. you are so nice. your friend Bluestar :)

          • Rainbow Kitty says:

Relax Elwin. Deep breath in, out, in, out…close your eyes and just listen. You can keep them closed if you want so you don’t have to see the audience. No one will notice from your sunglasses anyway. I did this for my singing debut. It was actually a duet with a friend, and we were singing for the local talent show. Good thing we were singing pop. We just put on our sunglasses and made sure to not see the audience! ~§~Rainbow Kitty~§~

Elwin, it’s okay! No need to panic! I have done dancing solo’s, singing solo’s, and acting solo’s before. Everyone think’s the best thing I’m good at is hands down dancing. Everyone thinks I’m really flexible and should start gymnastics. The good news is, I am going to join gymnastics soon, so I’m really psyched about that! My dance group and I are starting to go on tour soon too, so I’m really psyched about that also! So, Elwin, here’s a lesson I think u could remember, don’t ever get nervous, u will always be fine. Take it from me. I was nervous doing all those activities, now look at me now. I’m almost a pro at everything now! A little practice every day or two will always pay off! Always remember that! ;) -♥nihao9♥

          • Time Bandit...the more you perform, the easier it gets says:

Singing and plaing my guitar has never been a problem for me, but I literally collapsed the first time I had a violin solo. I was shaking so bad that I cried, and I still am terrified of violin solos

        • Gabriella♥ says:

Elwin, this is a wonderful opportunity. If you could rewind time, would you really have denied Hailey’s offer? I don’t think so. Singing is your passion, just as room designing is! Think of all the times you sang. Think about how much you liked it. ♥

        • cupcakelover510 says:

Wha?????? Good to know, Lila and Mistyfoot…. I guess…. And Elwin can sing? I had a solo in chorus too, and I was nervous, but I did everything perfectly because the key thing to know is that it wont ruin your life and people wont even remember if you mess up in the future. Hope I helped!!!

      • CoconutCloud says:

Elwin, just relax. Anyone wouldn’t want to be in your feet right now, but think. This is big! This is special! This is YOUR hour, YOUR spotlight. It’s all yours, just remember. ~CC~

    • the green ninja (In Therapist Outfit) says:

What I say: Find an excuse to get away from doing it. Cry, beg, plead, say you have a sore throat, or say you just NEVER want to sing again. Hey, it worked for my brother when he was famous! Or, just don’t do anything and fail. Also, you can admit your nervosness. That is the best cure of all. Then, your fellow bandmates will help you. ;) if none of this works, just stick with Mistyfoot’s idea, Elewin.

    • opghty says:

Elwin, there is no reason to be worried, to be honest. Just remember that you love to sing, and don’t think about how well you’re going to do on that stage. Just let loose and have fun!

    • horses r awesome... totally agrees with @Mistyfoot says:

Calm down Elwin, I remember when I had to play handbells infront of my whole school during our end-of-the-year peprally and I was afraid I would mess up infront of everybody. Luckily I was not playing solo and there were other people playing the song with me. I realised that even if I played one line wrong, it wouldn`t really matter because everyone else playing would cover me up. If you sing a line wrong, don`t worry, It`s not like it`s going to kill you, but if you do sing something thats not 100% correct, just go along with it, and don`t forget a little improv too. That`s how I got through my handbells session.

    • DragonPrincess says:

So that is how they are going to bring Elwin back to design with Hailey again…Stage fright! Just remember Elwin, you must be great or you wouldn’t be where you are now, so just give it your best shot. Once you get started it will probably be less scary, that is how it works for me when I dance. I get so focused I don’t even hear people clapping until I watch it on the video later! Good luck. ~DP

    • PhoenixWind says:

I’ll wish you luck too, Elwin. Remember that long ago post on Alex’s stage fright? You should read the advice there. Pretend everyone in the audience is Hailey. Just to make it easier, draw several Hailey’s on your sunglasses. Everyone in the audience will only think it’s just them reflecting off your sunglasses, if they even see that far so dark. LOL, it’s a funny trick when you take your sunglasses off, but remember, they’re your FANS! ~Phoenix Wind~
