You can create a collection of attractive decorative vases to display in your space, simply using old glass bottles and jars, and your favorite color of paint.
You will need:
- Three clear glass jars or bottles
- Acrylic paint
- Newspaper
Choose three clear glass bottles or jars in various shapes, around the same size (for example – don’t use a small spice jar and a large pickle jar.) If they still have labels on them, soak them in warm water overnight to remove the labels then run the bottles or jars through the dishwasher to make sure they’re clean and dry.
Take acrylic paint in a color that will complement your decor. You can buy paint at the store or ask your parents if they have leftover wall paint that you can use.
Working over the newspaper, pour a small amount of paint into the first glass jar or bottle. Twist and turn the bottle until the inside is coated with the paint, making sure to hold it upright so it doesn’t spill. When the inside of the bottle is completely covered with paint, pour any excess paint back into the paint container. Wipe off any paint that may have dripped on the outside of the bottle.
Repeat with each jar or bottle.
When you’re done, you have a matching set of three decorative vases that will make an interesting display in your room. But remember – these vases are for decoration only. Don’t put any liquid in them – it could remove the paint.
WONDERFUL! What a fantastic idea – especially for kids (or parents) who choose a very hard to match color for their room – this is so fabulous – I can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before!
