Millie’s Birthday Party

Dear Diary,

Well, we had Millie’s birthday party today and I have to say: it went pretty well.

Millie had fun (she said it was the best party she’d ever been to) and the other kids seemed to enjoy themselves. There were only a few minor incidents (of course).

The first one happened when I was wrapping Millie’s gift (a jewelry box). I was in a huge hurry (I had to help decorate and the kids were arriving in less than an hour)…and I dropped it. It fell to the floor and made kind of a ‘clunk’ noise. I didn’t think much of it, until I opened it and found the ballerina that was supposed to dance around lying on her side! I got out my craft glue and glued her back into place and hoped for the best. I finished wrapping in record time. The good news is that the glue had dried by the time Millie opened the gift – and the dancer still danced around. Whew.

The party started and everything was going well, until Millie started freaking out and saying that someone was missing. I looked around and counted all the kids and I couldn’t figure out who she was talking about, until she said “I can’t find Emmy Lou!” Emmy Lou is Millie’s imaginary friend. After an extensive search around the yard, Millie remembered that Emmy Lou had to visit her grandmother that day. I told Millie that I was sure Emmy Lou would be happy to join her for a tea party tomorrow. Thankfully, that calmed her down.

The kids played lots of games and ate TONS of food (who knew little kids could eat so much?). My friends in the ‘Kinz came by to help out with the party, and they were actually having a pretty fun time – until we heard snickering from the gate into the backyard. Purr-Cilla and Malena had been spying on us! They laughed at us and called us babies and ran down the street cackling. Those two are SO annoying.

Everyone enjoyed the fancy sandwiches I made, and I think the party was an overall success. I’m just glad I get to take a whole year off before I start helping Millie plan the next one.

Love,

Molly

Purr-Cilla and Malena are pretty mean. The Kinz were helping with Millie’s party! Not being guests to a little kid party.
    LOL ♥
