Chef Gazpacho here with a simple idea for a yummy treat for Fluffington’s party. The little ones will love this and it’s so easy to make!

What you need:

-          5 cups crispy rice cereal

-          1 – 10 ounce bag marshmallows

-          3 tablespoons butter

-          1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

-          6 candy canes, crushed into small pieces

-          An adult assistant

What you do:

  1. Line an 8” baking pan with foil.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, have you adult assistant melt the butter and marshmallows in the microwave, about 2 – 3 minutes, stirring often.
  3. Slowly add cereal, stirring well as you go along until all the cereal is added and it is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  4. Pour mixture into baking pan and press it down into the corners with a wooden spoon.
  5. In a small bowl, melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for 1 – 3 minutes, stirring often.
  6. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the top of your crispy rice mixture, then sprinkle with candy cane pieces.
  7. Allow to set for about two hours and enjoy.

This is my delicious way to put a holiday twist on a classic recipe!

I like sweet peppermint :P these are really cool. I saw rice crispies that look like ornaments in a magazine. I would LOVE to make these for Christmas but my Christmas rule is “NOTHING STOREBOUGHT” I love hommade because thats what Christmas is all about. ;)

krystalkat, you can make rice krispy-style stuff out of rice cereal and marshmallows. Recipes are all over the internet. Then you flatten it and use cookie cutters, or roll it into balls and add a ‘handle’.

      • Catchfire says:

You could use a round cookie cutter to make round ornaments out of the rice crispy treats and then decorate them so they look like ornaments. Might be able to use food dye on white chocolate so you would have different colors, and you don’t have to use the peppermint if you don’t want too.
You might look around at the store for some ornament shaped cookie cutters to use with this.
Or you could just shape them in your hand. Or for the round ones you can use a upside down glass or jar to cut out circles.
If using white chocolate and food dye doesn’t work out then you could use colored frosting. They have all kinds even glitter one. Although the glitter one I tasted by itself didn’t really taste very good or really like anything at all. But I’m sure it would be fine on these. Good Luck and Have Fun!!!!
