Roberta’s Bad Day

Dear Diary,

I have never (NEVER) been angrier at Ms. Stripes than I am right now. She told us who was cast in which role for the Thanksgiving pageant. And guess what I am? The lead? Noooo! The supporting actress? Noooo! I don’t even have any LINES. Why is that? Because I’m a tree! A tree! Cowabelle, on the other hand, is the lead. She gets to dress up like a pilgrim and sing and dance and do all sorts of other things. Meanwhile, I get to get splinters from my costume. I cannot believe Ms. Stripes! She is so unfair. And you know what she said, when I went up to her after class and asked her why I was a tree? “Roberta, it’s important that you learn to share the spotlight. You can’t ALWAYS be the lead, you know.” And I said “But Cowabelle has been the lead a lot as well. Why does SHE get to do it again now?” And Mrs. Stripes just said something about Cowabelle suiting the part, and for the Christmas pageant maybe I could have a more prominent role.

Know what? I’m not even going to be IN the Thanksgiving pageant. This tree is on strike.

Come on.It is not that bad.Trees are beautiful.Especially in fall. And do not be such a bad example for the little kids.(I have 5 younger sibligs.)It is life.

Roberta, you can be a tree, or, with permission, you can be a TREE. Your a very crafty person, put a couple of birds nests and a squirrel or two in your tree. Instead of complaining make something of your tree. jennifer

Actually, that is kinda unfair. they should edit the script to include more roles, even small ones. at least give everyone one moment to shine. That way, when the parents come and watch, all of them will be proud of their kid. you cant exactly do a ‘great job’ if you stand there in a tree costume looking bored. they can make trees out of cardboard, and give everyone a chance to have a turn in the spotlight. ~*&crayola$mouse&*~

Roberta, trees are important too. Unless you want every single ‘non-important role’ on the scenery painted instead. Why don’t you discuss this with Cowabelle and work out a compromise?

  7. Stealthstorm says:

Roberta, even a tree is an important role in a play! Don’t be mad! You don’t always get what you want. You have to learn that every part in the play matters. ;) ~Stealthy
