Tonight I’m going to frighten my friends with a creepy ghost story around the campfire! Here are some of the ways I make my tale especially spooky.
The first thing I have to think about is who I’m talking to. There may be some younger kids from the camp who might be frightened by more serious ghost stories. If it were just older kids I could get much eerier. I always go to the library to find lots of scary story ideas.
I’m going to get Cowabelle to help me with some sound effects – she’s going to slam a cabin door at a suspenseful moment, and rustle the trees by the campfire when I describe a monster in the woods. We’ve practiced together a few times so we both know it well and won’t make any mistakes.
We’re going to have a stereo nearby to play spooky music very softly in the background. A campfire makes the perfect lighting for a ghost story, but some extra candles can add a chilling touch. We’ll make sure it’s dark outside before we begin. While I’m talking, Cowabelle can fan the flames to make the candlelight flicker.
I’m going hold a flashlight under my chin while I talk to give my face an ominous glow and speak very quietly, so that my friends need to lean in to listen. This will make Cowabelle’s sound effects all the more shocking.
When I reach the climax of the story, I speak very slowly to drag out the suspense. And at the final moment I’ll give a loud scream.
Cowabelle and I are really excited – with all our preparation to create the right atmosphere, we will have them shaking in their boots!
Wow, that will be scary! You HAVE to let us know what happened!
Good luck scaring everyone!!!
I especially love the screaming part!!!
I did that when we were watching the 7th harry potter movie during a sleep over.
My sister freaked and threw a pillow at me. She missed.
Sounds like a scary time. Wish I could be there to see what happens! Have fun!

I remember someone I knew told a story about a “Ghost with one black eye”. It was hilarious! The story was about a baby who needed diapers and all the family opened up the closet to see the ghost with the one black eye. Then it was up to the baby to get its diapers! OMG I love that story! does anyone want to hear it?
Sure.
I believe you Yelida M 411. I’ve seen ghosts too. My house is haunted, so I see ghosts everyday. I study them. These are good ideas for ghost stories, maybe I can use them sometime at a sleepover.
Pizza Eating Time
I once saw a ghost cat on my street! It was a stormy night (a coincidence eh?) and I heard scratching at the door and when i opened it a little white cat was on the door step! I brought the cat inside and shut the door and set the cat on the couch where she fell asleep. I turned around for 10 seconds to get some milk and when I turned back, the cat was GONE!!! I looked all over the house but she was nowhere! All of the doors and windows were closed so she couldn’t of gotten out. The scary part is our neighbor had a white cat who recently had to be put to sleep! So i am thinking that the white cat may have been the ghost of our neighbor’s cat! SPOOK ALERT!

Great tips!
-Always :-)
My bff and I will have to try this at her next sleepover! Scary stories are always better when you work with a friend. While your telling the story, you can say, “What was that?” and then have your friend jump out of a bush or dark corner. Works everytime. >:) My bff and I are great at telling ghost stories; so much that we even scare ourselves! XD
I want to try it. :)
