Hi. My name is Salley Cat and I hope that you will consider voting for me for School Council President.

As most of you know, I am newer to Kinzville Academy than a lot of you. I’ve moved a lot in my life but it was only when I got to Kinzville and met all of my friends at Kinzville Academy that I knew I’d found my home. I am very proud to be a part of this school. I feel that in the time I have spent here I have made a valuable contribution to the Kinzville Academy community. I had a part in the school play this year and I was a part of the Clean Up Crew that volunteered to help tidy up the playground at the beginning of the school year.

I participate in activities because it’s important to me to have a positive effect on my school. But it’s not just the organizations and activities at KVA that mean so much to me. From the time I started here, the most important part of Kinzville Academy, in my opinion, is all of the ‘Kinz who make up our student body. We all love our school, but one of the reasons we love it is because of the friends we see here every day. And it’s because of my friends that I chose to run for School Council President.

I know that every year when Ms. Cowoline is planning her classes, she has a lot of students to juggle and many different things to take into consideration and she does a great job. But I think there is a very important element that teachers and principals can’t see when they are looking at names and grades on a piece of paper. That element is the bond between Kinzville students and their friends. I know that when I’m with my friends I’m happier and therefore more motivated. I think that I would be more engaged in my school work if I were sharing it with the ‘Kinz who are closest to me. That is why, if I win this election, I will work with Ms. Cowoline to ensure that students have a say in which class they are in. I think that students who want to be in the same class should be able to request a placement, or ask for a transfer once the year has started.

I also think that it’s important for every student at Kinzville Academy to feel included. That is why I would like the School Council Lounge to be open to all of the students – not just the ones on School Council. If I am elected president, I don’t think that I should have more privileges than all of you. As the ones who vote for president, you have an equally important role in School Council. That’s why we should all share the Lounge – equally.

When you go to the polls this year, please remember the valuable contributions I have made to our school and the positive changes that I am trying to make to create a better Kinzville Academy for all of us. I hope that I can count on your vote.
