Spookiest Halloween Contest Winners

My spookiest Halloween was when I was 8, and I went to a haunted house with my older brother and his friends. He was going with all of his buddies, but my mom let me tag along. My dad drove the five of us over. I wasn’t scared at all until, while we were waiting in line, a boy my age ran out crying. But we already bought the tickets so I had to go. We walked in and were greeted by monsters of all sorts. Not even after one minute I was ready to get out, but I couldn’t find anyone I came with. So I ran through the mazes of monsters, with a few screams and yelps, until finally I was out. I waited what felt like forever, for my brother and friends. They came out laughing, while I was terrified. We met my dad a few minutes later, and he drove us home. I told him how scared I was, and he said that he had something that would cheer me up. When we got home he surprised me with the Webkinz Black Cat! He said it was supposed to be a Halloween gift, but he thought it could protect me. – Sean

The scariest Halloween was when I went to a friend’s Halloween party. At the party we were playing games and having fun, when we heard someone banging against the gate of her backyard. Everyone (including me) started screaming and hiding. Then, the gate burst open and a guy with an axe came into the backyard, and started chasing us around. We would have never thought that we had been tricked, like at their party last year. Once we had figured out that it was one of our friend’s dad we started attacking him because he scared us so much. This year I hope we realize that we are being tricked! – Zoe

It started out as a normal night. My sister, her friend, and I were trick-or-treating together. We went to a bunch of houses with our dads tagging along behind us. We came upon this one house. It had smoke surrounding the yard so you could not see it. We didn’t know where to get the candy. Where could it be? We walked up the front yard. But then out came zombies from the smoke! It was really scary! There were two zombies, but there was three of us. The zombies went after my sister and her friend but I found my way to the candy! I was so frightened I only took one piece from the bowl and none for anybody else. I was trying to hurry because my sister and her friend were screaming because they were being chased. I ran like the wind away from the zombies! It was super scary! I was surprised I made it out alive! But i was more excited because I had gotten candy. : ) – Jenna

It was a cold Halloween day as my friends and I skipped down the road to our neighbor’s house. We were excited to fill our massive bags with scrumptious candy! As we approached the house, we noticed it was dimly lit. White draped sheets covered the garage door opening. I soon found out what it was for. A haunted house. I had never been in one before. My friends didn’t dare to walk into such a mysterious place. Normally, I wouldn’t either. But, then and there, I decided it was time to face up to a frightening situation. I walked up to the entrance in my princess outfit and entered the shadowed garage. I can certainly tell you that is was a scary experience! All kinds of flashing lights and eerie noises filled my eyes and ears. I tried to calmly walk through it, but as someone popped out at me, I ran! As I exited the garage, my friends also looked frightened. But, as scared as I was, I was proud that I took a step into something I had a fear of. Now it is an experience I will never forget! – Marie

One Halloween evening I was out with my best buds on the same trick or treating route as we usually do. It was just a normal night, at least we thought it was! We were about 4 houses down and we knocked on the door. Before we could yell trick or treat, a skeleton popped down from the ceiling! We grabbed the candy but suddenly a hand came up and held my wrist! I screamed but after that me and my friends started cracking up! We grabbed some more candy before the hand could grab ours and ran to the next house. We still laugh to this day! – Noelle
