Congratulations to Jese, Miranda, Jessica, Liam and Caitlin! They’ve each been awarded a St. Patrick’s Day Prize Pack! We wanted to see your St. Patrick’s Day limericks. Check out the winning entries below.
There once was a Webkinz named Chuck,
He really believed in luck.
Every St. Patrick’s Day he would go pick clovers,
Hoping he might find a leprechuan called Grover,
but every year he could only find a Webkinz Duck!
- Jese
There once was a Webkinz named Mary-May
Who saw that everyone was dressed the same way.
She went to go ask the queen,
And saw that she was wearing green,
And then remembered that it was St. Patricks Day!
- Miranda
St. Patrick’s Day is nearly here,
My utmost FAVORITE time of year.
Four leaf clovers and shamrocks all around,
and leprechauns hiding, rarely found.
Let’s all give a big, festive St. Patty’s Day Cheer!
– Jessica
There once was a Webkinz from Dover,
who found a bright green four leaf clover.
But, to his dismay,
it was taken away,
by an Irish Setter named Rover.
- Liam
Red Rover, Red Rover,
Send the leprechaun over!
Seldom seen,
Dressed in green,
Hiding in the clover.
- Caitlin
Huh? I found this explanation online:
Limerick Pattern
A (da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM)
A (da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM)
B (da da DUM da da DUM)
B (da da DUM da da DUM)
A (da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM)
Some of these aren’t limericks. If you dont know what a limerick is, it is where the first second and last line rhyme, and the first second and last line are all three beats. like try clapping to this following line, “My mother ate my pickle” So then the third and fourth line rhyme and are both two beats. like this next line, “My pickle is green”
Hi sugarssweetpup!
Creative, creative and fun.
Thank you for the smile you placed on all our faces.
Talent abundant—some day we may be reading your poems to our children.
OOOOOOOOOH! I KNOW WHAT I DID WRONG! *blushie* Oops!
To GRR: I don’t win these things either. well this was my first try. This is what I put:
With fresh clovers galore,
Scenic flowers, and more…
this sensational time
of a saint so sublime
is difficult to ignore!
I’m kinda sad and disappointed too. :(
Then I had another idea:
At the end of a glimmering rainbow
a gleaming pot of bright gold seems to glow
and was guarded cautiously
by a leprechaun so wee
and covered the green like a flower to grow.
I honestly am sad. Well I hope I win the chick contest. *hopeful smile*
Awww! I forgot to put it in the right rhyme scheme! :(
Congrats to the winners! I love to write poetry.
Mine needs work but I thought was pretty good. It goes a little something like this:
The wee man o’green of legends told,
He hides then appears, fearless and bold.
Is he mocking me?
Well, we will just see,
When I get me hands on his gold!
Those are awesome! Seriously I love ALL of those! We have such talented people on Webkinz! ;)
Thanks, Ally!
You really made me feel better, I bet I will! <3
