The Employment Office Break Room Redesign

Hailey: Hey all! Hailey and Elwin here with the first of our redecorating challenge articles.

Elwin: That’s right, Hailey. All week we’ll be putting up our latest projects to see whose room designs Webkinz Newz readers like better.

Hailey: The first room we tackled was the Employment Office Break Room.

Elwin:  Can you say seventies shabby? That’s what I thought when I first saw it. Ugh. The room was just such a jumble of mismatched furniture.

Hailey: Tabby told us that most of the furniture had come from secondhand stores, or from friends. She got it when she first opened the Employment Office, and she just hadn’t updated the room in years.

Elwin: Enter the Designer Elephants! Hailey and each took a stab at creating the new and improved break room. Here’s what we came up with:

Hailey’s Design:

I decided to create a serene, restful space for the employees. We’ve got a plush couch with a big screen TV, a dining area where they can eat lunch, a reading area for relaxing, and a top-of-the line kitchen. It’s functional and stylish. I’d like to see Elwin outdo this room!

Elwin’s Design:

Interesting that we both used bricks in our wall treatment! I guess that comes from being twins (or just having good taste). Although I like my sister’s design, I have to say – mine is far more interesting! The gold really makes the room pop, and the heavy wood balances the brightness perfectly. Adding windows opened the room up. The little accessories really make the room feel like home.

So what do you think readers? Which of the Designer Elephants created a better break room?

I prefers Hailey’s Room to Elwins… Both room are really awesome, but Hailey’s seems more relaxing, Elwins to me just feels cramped!

I like Hailey’s a lot better. It has a very relaxing feeling about it. The only thing I don’t like about it is that, not all of the furniture matches. Elvin’s is OK, but the gold is way too much for the brick walls and clashes with the walls. I also would have put in different windows. Well, that is my 2 cents worth. Thanks for listening!

I’m not a fan of harvest gold, lived thru the 70′s once don’t want to go back. Elwin really makes the room pop. jenniferobbi

Hailey’s Design is much better than the other design

I think Hailey’s is best, but personally, I don’t really care for any of them. No offense anyone!

I actually like some of both rooms but not either one over the other. I love the windows! when one is on break, one needs to be able to see OUT! I love the Gold fridge over the white fridge but the green table over the gold room.Gold should be the accent not the rule. it should bring out the subtleties of a room not overwhelm it!

I like Hailey’s room design better. They’re both cool, though. :)

I like Hailey’s room better. It is better suited for a break room than Elwin’s. Her room also can sit 9, while Elwin’s can only sit 7. Hailey’s is more relaxing and comfortable looking. Good job Hailey!

  9. GentleDreamer says:

I gotta go with Hailey, sorry Elwin, Hailey’s room isn’t too city, not too country, do you know what I mean? Hailey’s room is a bit more peaceful and relaxing and Elwin’s room looks like a room built in the 1930′s. But I also think that the room has to meet the person’s personality. Until now… Go Hailey! P.S. I am keeping track of the score for now is Hailey: 1 Elwin: 0

I think this one Hailey took because Elwin’s is just too overwhelming and heavy, not restful. I think she should use the walls he used for the windows and some natural light but other than that Hailey’s is more of a room to take a break in.
