The Employment Office Break Room Redesign

Hailey: Hey all! Hailey and Elwin here with the first of our redecorating challenge articles.

Elwin: That’s right, Hailey. All week we’ll be putting up our latest projects to see whose room designs Webkinz Newz readers like better.

Hailey: The first room we tackled was the Employment Office Break Room.

Elwin:  Can you say seventies shabby? That’s what I thought when I first saw it. Ugh. The room was just such a jumble of mismatched furniture.

Hailey: Tabby told us that most of the furniture had come from secondhand stores, or from friends. She got it when she first opened the Employment Office, and she just hadn’t updated the room in years.

Elwin: Enter the Designer Elephants! Hailey and each took a stab at creating the new and improved break room. Here’s what we came up with:

Hailey’s Design:

I decided to create a serene, restful space for the employees. We’ve got a plush couch with a big screen TV, a dining area where they can eat lunch, a reading area for relaxing, and a top-of-the line kitchen. It’s functional and stylish. I’d like to see Elwin outdo this room!

Elwin’s Design:

Interesting that we both used bricks in our wall treatment! I guess that comes from being twins (or just having good taste). Although I like my sister’s design, I have to say – mine is far more interesting! The gold really makes the room pop, and the heavy wood balances the brightness perfectly. Adding windows opened the room up. The little accessories really make the room feel like home.

So what do you think readers? Which of the Designer Elephants created a better break room?

    I think they’re both cool, but I like Haily’s better. :)

Sorry Elwin, I like Hailey’s room better. Yours is a bit too crowded for my taste. – Scoobarificus***

Why does everyone think Elwin’s room is so cramped? I don’t know why ANYONE would think EITHER of them is cramped. I like Elwin’s room better though.

Both designs are pretty cool, and definitely better than what Tabby had.
Elwin, I like your use of windows and a plant, but you need to have some counter stools, for times the employees just want a less “formal” break.
Hailey, I really like your use of art work on the wall, the fresh cut floral arrangements as well as a plant. Your seating arrangements are perfect for a break room. A window would make the employees feel a little less “shut in”.
Both of you forgot to put in some sort of closet for coats or sweaters!
Overall, Haily’s is probably more practical as a break room. Elwin’s is perfect for a board room.

Sorry Hailey, I like Elwins better, I wasn’t even gonna vote cuz I love you both so much, but… I like the bright colors and fun envirenment. Just think, with this wonderful rooms you do seperately, what kind of rocking breakroom could youdo together? I miss YOU GUYS, I don’t like this seperateness. :(

    Hailey’s design is better.

  7. Emma says:

i would have to say i like elwins better but i agree it is a little crowded

  8. Carol says:

I like both rooms just fine. However, I like the windows and the book shelf in elwin”s room better. If the windows could be added to Hailey’s and take out the book shelf she used and replace it with the one Elwin used then it would be much
better I think. Just sayin. But they both did a could job. Koodos!!

  9. Jed1923457 says:

I like the things Elwin used but Hailey’s is put together a lot better and it’s more relaxing!

  10. tootmaster says:

All of the other peeps who said Elwin’s room is best, I agree with you. I just think that Elwin’s rom has cooler stuffs than Hailey’s. And honestly, I’m very shocked at the turnout of votes.
