Tour of Webkinz World: Kinzville Times

I’m so stoked that I get to do a report about the Kinzville Times Offices! The Kinzville Times is Webkinz World’s leading source of information. Featuring articles by local Webkinz writers, advice by Plumpy E. Hippo, great Fun Stuff ideas and interesting W Tales, there’s something for everyone.

To get a good idea of what it takes to run a newspaper, I thought I might interview Andy McWoof, the editor-in-chief (and Ella’s dad).

L: Hi Mr. McWoof! I’m so glad you agreed to do this interview with me!
AW: No problem, Laurabeard. What questions do you have for me? Ask away!
L: Well, first I was wondering a bit about the history of the Kinzville Times.
AW: The history? Get your pencil at the ready, my girl – there’s a lot to write down. The first thing you should know is that the Kinzville Times has been around for many years. It has a rich legacy of providing balanced and fair reporting. I endeavor to find THE finest, most talented Webkinz writers in all of Kinzville – in all of Webkinz World, really. I’ve been very fortunate through the years, and I’ve got some brilliant minds like Plumpy – and more recently, my own daughter Ella. She really has her papa’s skill with words. A wordsmith, you might call her. Ella really is brilliant.
L: Er, yes. Anyway, what would you say the most memorable moment has been from the Kinzville Times’ history?
AW: Most memorable? Well, when Plumpy went on vacation and doled out a whole bunch of advice to the wrong Webkinz before she left…that was memorable. Not in a good way, though.
L: Oh! I remember hearing about that. Yeah, a lot of Webkinz were less-than-pleased!
AW: You got that right.
L: What made you want to be an editor?
AW: I’m a good writer, I like to read, and (odd as it may sound), I love grammar and punctuation. There’s just something about a properly punctuated sentence, am I right?
L: Uh…sure. What would you say you look for in a writer or reporter? What should students at the Kinzville Academy study if they want to work for the newspaper in the future?
AW: Great question! You know, you might be a pretty good reporter, Laurabeard! Asking questions, being curious, reading, writing – all of those things combine to make someone who writes interesting and informative pieces!
L: Well, I WAS planning on being a pirate – or an engineer- but maybe I’ll think about being a reporter instead. Or also! I’ll be all three!
AW: Well, when you’re looking for a job, you know where to find me. Here, at the best newspaper in all of Webkinz World – the Kinzville Times!

Interesting. You know, I’m curious, and I love reading, and I like writing stories. Of course, I haven’t worked on my books in a while… Yeah, I’ve been lazy about that.

I have A Lot of unfinished stories and books. I too haven’t worked on a lot of them in a while. :( I probably should though. Usually I start writing but then after a while I lose interest or I make up a new story idea and what to write that one down. :)

Andy McWoof sounds like a really funny ‘Kinz! :D And I think Laurabeard should do all three of her jobs if she really wants to. She could probably do some reporting on her pirate ship!
